My Experiments with (!@#$%^&*)

By: JaveedAhmedM | Posted Aug 26, 2010 | General | 1297 Views

When I started my career,I was handing a computer lab room, where most student worked on their projects. One Sunday Morning,I had One of the Students fanatically searching her desk with chits inside them with a long face.I was pondering if these chits r some left overs of an exam fraud or pieces of code or secret love notes.Curiosity drove me to her desk to enquiry about what she was searching?Well the small chits had random greek language kind of phases or words, which I understood were her past Passwords, which she used to write on slips,so that its easy to remember the password.Alas,Now She was at loss not remembering which is her latest slip from the heap she accumulated.

Before U read any further,please remember my password.Its 44K-L09.Those r random characters.Do Remember them.

As I worked over a period of time,I often had to use the online web sites,a PCs at Office,Home,God Damn Everywhere & Of Course at Mouthshut too.Our lives r strings of passwords, series of situations in which we must prove that we r indeed who we r,by these random characters.

I probably have some 40-50 passwords accumulated over a period of time.I'd bet if U summed up all the crap I have,my license,passport,pan card,Vehicle Number,Birth,Wedding days,brand names,Computers accessories,nicknames,friends,Film names,Fav.Actors & a whole kichadi of the likes,will spill out.We r a passworded society & I for one can't remember what all the different ones were.

Well When Banta Says to Santa, "I know Ur Password". A Worried Santa Says "So If U Know, U better Spill It out",to which Banta replies "Six Stars"LoL.I did come across someone whose password was "idontknow"!

Initially I started out with one password for everything of my online services.I often wondered,if there is just one of me or 3,5,9 letters that contain "me",or at least all,I am "digital".If someone steals one of my passwords, they own me at least on the Virtual Word. However,if U can remember 10 pin numbers,9 passwords & the color of the dress Ur better half wore today,Well,"U" have won,in a small way.I am not scared of the thieves, who want to dare take my money, none of which is online, but I am more concern with my secrets those "e-mails" which none should read, that have made me vulnerable to online people. We now have several identities to shield ourselves, but never before have we been more vulnerable than before the digital world came into being.

"I'm sorry sir,U're not listed on our database & neither is Ur card."Those words r the nightmare to many of us;so mundane is this fallen state of modern humanity that we have words & numbers & marks of the beast "666" to prove we r,who we r.For me,that we need passwords is frustrating. But yes,we r a world full of Rip Van Winkles surfing on (fake) identities, the issue is a saddening one.We can't have just one password, name, number, just one idea by which to be defined.Remember "Idea" Advt.,Kya Idea hai Sirjee!9849849840 or ???

The more U hide, the more U can be isolated.Yet at the same time, the more U r isolated, the more the U determined r ur survival instincts to protect one's self, behind a barrage of symbolic letters & numbers, passwords that define the separation between ourselves, the outside world & within ourselves. We r secret people, afraid of being unrecognised on the virtual World. We r scrambling around, doing what we have to do to get by in a world where our inherent human identity is constantly questioned.

Social networking has given way to a battle for our own validation. Its an identity crisis of the most literal sense:Personal Identification. How do U define Urself? The password is the key, final means to self-authentication.Quick.Don't scroll up or look up.Write,my password I gave U at the top...Got any of it? Well if U have,U r in firm control of Ur V-World & engaged in a constant battle of self-definition.U r who U say & U've admitted it.

Now,those who forgot the password completely? It is admirable,to belong to the old non V-world.But what's in a name is changing?A name is no longer what U wish to be called;it's what others choose to know U by.And the password is the combination to the locks that keep u separated from Urselves & others. My quest for tough passwords has left me at Sea.Many a time,I’ve forgotten even the login itself!BTW What is Ur Id?

I'd been having trouble accessing my FF Points until today. That's when I stared at the piece of paper that my travel agent gave me:44K-L09 44K-L10 09K-L45 45K-43L...We preprogrammed our brain to the V-world."Yes,"I told myself as I stared at the paper "I mustn't forget the new password for my FFP."

"FourFourkay,elZeroNinee.FourFour...."I mumbled. So Every time U create a Id/pwd U lose a part of urself.Well,Do U have any interesting password tales of Ur own? Share Not the tales But the Passwords...LoL!
