I've been reading a lot of Metallica reviews on this site, and I must say, I'm totally disgusted with 90% of them.
When I hear someone say they're a fan of Metallica, I believe them to be real fans, but I'm sorry to say that most of these so called "fans" are nothing more than posers who started listening to Metallica because they thought it was cool and chicks dug guys who were into rock.
Most of these "fans" I learnt are people who come in 1 or both of the following categories,
1) People who don't understand english and don't know what the words mean and how
to relate to them
2) People who thought shaking your head violently while listening to loud obnoxious
music was cool
It's sad to learn that most of these "fans" thought Metallica started slipping downward after Load, but fail to realise that Metallica has evolved with time, and each of their albums is a statement to their ownselves.
If you are 1 of those who believe St. Anger is a bad album, I suggest you go out to the DVD store and buy the DVD set titled "SOME KIND OF MONSTER". Only then will you realise what the band went through in those months before St. Anger was released. Jason's departure was just 1 such problem.
But the important part to realise here is that they came through it all as a band and made St. Anger. The pure pain, passion and frustration that comes across in all these songs is a bloody tribute to the band.
If you really want to appreciate Metallica, listen to the words, and try to relate to them. When James sings "St. Anger around my neck", he does'nt literally mean a saint called Mr. Anger is hanging onto his neck.
I suggest the poser fans that I'm referring to in this post, should stop calling themselves Metallica fans, because not only are they embarrasing the band, but to a greater extent are embarassing themselves by talking crap.
