The IPL bug has bitten India and no one has been spared including our friends on MS. There are contests galore in this Jamboree starting from IPL itself through Fantasy Leagues to Ungli Cricket.
While players sweat it out in the heat, we at MS might have a simpler & cozier way of enjoying in the IPL fever. By having our own MS Premier League (MPL) that is. Shree Sajith Nair, President, Board of Contest Control in India (BCCI) in his recent press release has outlined the tenets of MPL to be organised shortly. If you want to know then Whens & Hows, here's are the details.
The Participants - Anyone can participate in MPL by simply announcing the team of his choice he wants to represent.
The Teams - Participants can choose from any of the following teams. More teams could be added/deleted depending upon the response. Here are a few details on your favorite teams.
Delhi DearDevils (DD) - led by our endearing friend and experienced hand, Lalithbhai. Yahan players kabhi coach ka phone nahin uthaate...
Mumbai Mumbaikars MM (so named to keep Raj Thackeray in good humor so that he doesnt ban MPL) - led by our young and dynamic Fenil who has won many large cups in the past.
Chennai SuperQueens (CSQ) - Led by our Queen Bee Nisha. They use the revolutionary and much dreaded "Maango Uska" Bat
Deccan Biryani Chargers (DBC) - to be led by JAMS/Bhupi. Neither have confirmed availability and are quoting very high prices.
Kings XI Funjab (KXF) - Funloving team led by the funloving owner, Virat Nehru. Their slogan is Humko nahin koi chinta, hamare pass hai Zinta...
Pune Warriors (PW) - led by the General of Advt. Vijaybhai. They have a point to prove. They are trying to remember just which point...
Gujrat Ke Shayar (GKS) - led by Rajbhai, this team has the capability of winning matches by simply putting the opposition to sleep with its shayari (bhaago aaj Rajbhai mujhe nahin chhodenge).
Rajasthan Loyals (RL) - led by Hemaniji, this team can put up perspiring performances. For a change husbands can watch the serials of their choice.
Bungling Bangalorappas (BB)- Mr Mallya is yet to decide between the Aam Aadmi, Umeshji & Sidz for representing his team !! Too much of star power I say.
Rest of The World (ROW) - Waise toh saari duniya Swamiji ki hai, par yahaan woh Rest of the World ki kaptaani kar rahe hain...Hari Om !!! The team boasts of some swashbuckling prospects like Karan, Uncle Ross and currently NRI Akhilesh.
Kolkata Allday Sleepers (KAS) - Led by our non-playing captain Mr Sain. They have the enviable reputation of being able to fall asleep while playing.
The Format - There will be several rounds of the Contest. Each Round will have questions (general/visual) that can be attempted by the participants by sending M2M to me. After each round the score of all participants representing a team will be added and averaged to get the score/rank for that team. Results of each round will be displayed alongwith questions of the next round.
The Prizes - There will be prizes for the top teams at the end of the Contest as well as Man Of Match awards for individuals after each Round. In addition, there will be prizes for the top captains for bidding/retaining/poaching the performing players to their team as also promoting their team on MS. The prizes will be sponsored by the Board of Contest Control in India (BCCI).
Interested participants may confirm their participation and forward their suggestionsto me for consideration by BCCI in its next meeting.
