First of all thanks a lot everyone for the enthusiastic response. Already MPL is abuzz with activity and players are being bought/sold. God knows how many crore MS points are changing hands :-P Thanks also for the fantastic set of suggestions I have received. Let us now lay a few doubts to rest.
(1) Reiterating that there is no minimum no of players required for a team. So if you are getting only 2-3, you can still play. So dont worry about finalising your team. Members will keep joining whenever they can. However not more than one team will be allowed per city.
(2) The team Rest Of World (ROW) stands dissolved as the captain has been bought over by Mr Mallya. Swamiji will now represent BB. Likewise Karan has chosen to play for DD.
Some of you may still have a few lingering doubts. But as they say get started and soon everything will be fine. So take guard and do what you do best - PLAY !! Here comes the first ball :-
(1) Easy one first up. Identify the organisation whose logo is shown in Pic 1.
(2) In campus jargon, what is meant by “Hot Sams” (Hint – It isnt Sameera !!)
(3) What is the name given to ads that are similar to an editorial but are actually advertisements, eg, Dr Batra's ad featuring Mukesh Batra
(4) What is common to SRK and Paul Newman (how I hate putting them in the same league) ?
(5) Identify the famous "kid" shown in Pic2 ?
(6) Now for the cricket bouncer. What is the technical name for the fielder who stands on the boundary line just behind the wicket keeper ? (I often wonder why captains dont use this position, especially during slog overs)
Please answer by M2M only to avoid your answers getting copied by other teams/ players.
Remember a few cricketing cliches, “every ball is important” and “the game is not over until its over”. So make sure you maximise runs for yourself and your team. Since this is only the first round and we have a long way to go, do send suggestions on improving anything you like.
PS - (1) The contest is dedicated to an MSian who has been selfless in celebrating MS bonhomie besides contributing immensely to the portal. He is going to celebrate a personal milestone soon. More on him in later editions.
(2) Umeshji you can rest assured. IPL may be rigged but MPL wont be !!
