Love & Valentine's Day ...Part2

By: jnan | Posted Feb 14, 2010 | General | 434 Views

The basic tenets of all religion is to believe in "truth" to understand and experience reality (as we mostly live in virtual world, rather in a world of illusions and often contradictions) and also to know who we are and our purpose in life. Our ancient scriptures like Gita has clearly mentioned that we are all Atma ( soul), a conscious energy that is indestructible. Only our physical body ( a costume for Atma ) is perished on death. So, on every birth we have a new physical body with its identity as the cycle continues. Hence, I think, the purpose of life is to express and experience our inherent potentialities through various relationships we develop during journey through the life. This can be achieved by knowing oneself inside out truthfully, as these attributes are reflected in all ours creative pursuits.Love is always sheltered around these pursuits. So when two human beings are properly bonded being at the same mental level, that love prospers under all conditions and through major challenges in life, since it is based on clear understanding, appreciation, respect and trust to the hilt. Usually when we love some one or some thing, we expect a return from the person or from the article for our satisfaction and if that person or the product fails to meet our expectation, we feel unhappy and often hurt. So, we only love ourselves in all such situations due to our ego. Only when we have unconditional love without any expectation of a return like a mother for her child, we really learn what true love is. Otherwise, infatuation, love for the search of love etc. are all transitory. We do not need a Valentine's Day for real love, since it could be any moment in life like loving a glowing sunrise, a fragrant flower, innocence of a child, a scintillating music, an enchanting dance, a great performance etc. that touch our heart to the core apart from unconditional love and care from any relation, be with parents, siblings, friends and life's companions, colleagues, with whom we can share our true feelings either in happiness or sorrow, in plenty or scanty, in joy or distress and get true comfort within the soul. So, in any sphere of life including our relations either personal or professional, developed with " out of love " without expectation of any return is always better than " for the love ", tagged with expectation of a return. The tenet of the first is, we love it because of it, not with expectation of any return, while the latter starts with expectation of a return. Gita's wisdom is like gospel truth....."you have the right to Karma..(work/vocation/activities) without looking for the result" ....that way, we undertake any action, because we love to do it and in the process, we do with the best of our ability unconditionally.
