Love Stories are a treat to watch

By: abhinav001 | Posted Feb 02, 2015 | General | 272 Views

Yesterday, I watched a bengali movie, irrespective of me being a bengali, I'm a plain zero in Bangla, but like telugu and tamil, I like watching them. Atleast they've some sense than our regular bollywood masala fare, which has no meaning.

The move name was SATHI,*ing Jeet and Priyanka Triwedi. A complete musical love story. A story of love and its sacrifices, a youth takes to give his love, a real chance of happiness.

The story started with a young boy, coming from Vizag, by train, meets a musical group, and shares his story from village to Kolkata and from Kolkata to Vizag and to jail.

His name is Bijoy, a village boy who got aplauded by a music director, comes to Kolkata to earn a name for himself as a singer. But his bad luck followed him, and he reaches Kolkata on that man's funeral. He gets to live in Kolkata, helped by a drinker named Keshtoda, and soon he started selling LIC. A girl named Sonali, hears his voice from a locality near his. She fell flat for the voice. But to both's bad luck, whenever they met, Bijoy is caught doing either fighting or caught for the wrong reason, so she hates him. She loves Bijoy for his voice without recognizing that he is the same person, she sees fighting. A drastic incident takes her eyes, and again Bejoy was responsible, and you have the interval. Post interval, how Bejoy helps Sonali, without her recognizing that she hates the guy. He sacrifices his singing career, his kidney to earn her eyes and a nice singing careers. In the return way from Vizag, where he went to sell his kidney, he got arrested, and was sent to five years of rigorous imprisonment. After five years, when he returned to Kolkata, Sonali is a very big star singer. He reaches the podium where she has to perform, but she didn't recognize him, and she ordered the guards to send him off by hitting badly.

Inside the podium, the music group which heard Bejoy's story were singing his song. Sonali ran madly towards the stage, and when they told her the truth about Bejoy's absence for five years, Bejoy sang his song, making Sonali understand that the guy whom she hate the most is the same guy whom she loved the most and the couple unite.

That's a heart touching love story. I just felt flat for the story. Whole day, I's sad for the unknown reason, but later I understood that I got the hangover of the movie. Last night, I downloaded the original tamil movie Vijay's starrer Thullada Manamum Thullam and Telugu version Nagarjuna starrer Nuvvu Vastavani. And whole night, I watched both the movie twice, especially the end scene I don't know how much time I repeated it, the main song, and the song just after interval.

Songs are the life of a love story. The songs of all three versions were awesome, especially the bengali and tamil one.

On the whole, after watching the movie, why can't we have a good love story today. Today, the love stories have taken a back stage, they are put in taday's movie, just to have good visuals song, and glamourous heroines showing their size zero body.

We'd a tradition of love stories from start of the bollywood, but slowly they have not occured to today's filmmakers. From Raj Kapoor's time, we've Awara or Barsaat. Then we'd Rajendra Kumar, Devanand, Dilip Kumar's Love story movies. Then we got Rajesh Khanna's Love stories. Then at last we got SRK's love stories, most of them, still remembered. DDLJ remained everyone's favourite love story. Because today, we've a dearth of love stories. Probably, Aashiqui 2 was the last love story we saw. That too, 2 years before.

Why can't we have love stories today. There's a hell lot of audience for a well made love story. Half percentage of our population, want to watch a love story. They want to go and see movies with their boyfriends, and watch, cry, love. Today, we have very less number of love story, that doesn't mean that we've less love today than that of 50s or 60s.

We've a lot of love stories in hollywood, and that works as a counter programming for their big budgeted science fiction. And earns a hell lot of money, and costs also less. Last year, "The Fault in Our stars" cost only 10-12 mn, earned more than 300 mn worldwide. So there is a lot of people wanting to watch a good and clean love story.

So, please filmmakers, give a shot.
