Life is Such A Wonderful Gift

I am a sensitive person when it comes down to relations. Other day I went to a friend , A Doc. I narrated him my problem of being psychic and not able to control my emotions, my tears. He said it was normal being attached to some one and not getting his image out of ones thought.

My friend then narrated his own incident about a old couple. A retired General and his wife. The Couple often used to come to the hospital. They lived alone with their children settled. Life was slow. One day at about Five in the evening. The Officer had complaints of chest pain. As the test took place his condition worsened and was in ICU.

At about Seven in the evening there was a panic call. The nurses voice crackled on the phone. My friend rushed up to the General. He appeared to be calmly sleeping. My friend tried to revive him but failed, he was long gone.

Now was the toughest part. My friend had noticed the Generals wife sitting Outside praying. He could sense the uneasiness in the Lady. The doc had to pronounce the General dead before the life support systems could be taken off.

My friend took a deep breath and went ouside. He took the old ladys hands and said “Ma’am , he has gone”. For a moment the lady froze. Then with moist eyes asked my fried if she could see her husband. She was taken inside where the General laid. She bent over his head, taking it in her arms , lifted it and kissed on the fore head. A tear drop rolled out. Then she took a step back, and said “It’s Ok”. She asked my fried for a favor, if the body could be kept as there was no one.

Things were arranged for and the body transferred to the mortuary…..The fact remains, where ever and what ever we do there are things we can never ever forget. After having spoken my heart out to my friend, I do realize that that what a waste of life we make in fighting over trival things, things which are not worth shortening our live with………….
