Ever since I
came to Mohali, I have noticed with growing interest and admiration, the activities of Consumer Redress Forum in chandigarh. (through TOI’s
epaper both Banglore and Chandigarh
editions).
I feel consumers are very active here in this state. Every day there is atleast one case that has
satisfied the consumer. Just today I saw two cases. One is about fining Airtel 25 K
for false promise of free tickets if questions are answered correctly!!. This is good because you cannot prove too many things here. another one is about fining Bank of Indore 25K for deficiant services. [The top of the list is fining ICICI card 10L rupees for designating Lawyer
as negative profile and refusing credit card apart from 50K for mental agony in Delhi].
I have
never seen so many redressal awards in Karnataka. It may demonstrate the lack latitude mindset
in Karnataka (includes me too :-( ) or people are not aware of their rights.
We need
more lawyers and proactive consumers like in chandigarh. I really appreciate and congratulate
all the consumers who had taken the pains to book the marketing giants and setting
precedence.
Wish
every consumer takes similar initiative when they feel that there is deficiency
of service. Only then quality of service will come up to international
standards in India.
