About 28 commercial guest houses operating in Ujjwala Luxury Complex, AA-IID, New Town(P.S. New Town), Rajarhat, Kolkata 700 157. As per law of the land, in such a residential complex any such commercial activities are not allowed. However, due to the vested interest of some of the apartment owners and the role of middleman played by the former facility manager of the complex, such Guest Houses are freely operating in the complex.
These guest houses are a major security threat to the residents, specially the ladies, young children and the elderly people. The attendants, servants and managers of these Guest Houses roam around freely within the complex. They look at lecherously to the ladies. Some of the attendants do not even have any identity proof submitted to the Complex authorities. Recently, six such people were evicted from the complex. The ‘guests’ of these Guest Houses, arrive many a time are in drunk state, without any authorisation and behave extremely rudely with the private security guards. Sometimes, they even knock the doors of the permanent residents in drunken state. It is also suspected that lot of illegal activities including prostitution racket is operating in these guest houses.
Given these circumstances, it is absolutely important that the New Town Police Station evicts such guest houses and keep a close vigil on the operations of the complex. Given, the size of the complex and the various kinds of people that are visiting it is absolutely important that the Police Team would visit the complex on a regular basis and take necessary security measures.
