WILL TALAASH SUCCEED DESPITE ‘THANDA’ PROMOTIONS?

Nowadays, the superstars have made it customary to release their film during holidays or ‘long extended weekends’. That way, the profit is maximum and the film manages to break many a records in its lifetime. In such a scenario, Aamir Khan’s Talaash is releasing tomorrow (November 30) which is a working Friday. No extended weekends, no holidays – Talaash is releasing on a regular Friday. Moreover, the film isn’t one of those ‘safe’ commercial flicks. It’s a suspense drama and not a thriller. The songs are melodious but not of ‘chartbuster’ variety and the album is devoid of an item number.

Thankfully, the film has made many people curious and viewers are excited to catch up the film. The star cast is a plus point too. Besides Aamir, there’s Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Raj Kumar Gupta. The film is directed by Reema Kagti, who earlier made Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd and is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani who are associated with good qualitative cinema. The cost of the film is reasonable and film is expected to have a healthy weekend. Even though the film gets thumbs up from the viewers, cynics will raise the point that it will not break the box office record of 3 Idiots (202 crores). And that’s obviously not going to happen. That the film is releasing on a working day and is not a regular Bollywood entertainer (that collects crores easily) is something that should not be ignored. As for the film, it stars Aamir Khan, a superstar who very rarely disappoints. So here’s hoping Talaash doesn’t disappoint too and hope viewers have a rocking time with the film!
