Fenil's Bollywood Talk Celebrations - MS Antakshari!

By: fenil_seta | Posted Apr 12, 2012 | Fenil's Bollywood Talk! | 1942 Views | (Updated Apr 12, 2012 11:34 AM)

On the occasion of Double Centenary Celebrations of Fenil’s Bollywood Talk, have organized a contest that I had held 2 yrs back but is exciting nevertheless!

Antakshari, until recently, used to be the most popular pastime played with family members during gatherings. Having a round of Antakshari while travelling long distances in bus or train with friends/relatives used to help kill time considerably! It is an activity where anyone with even basic know-how about songs can participate. Hence, it was an ideal game for all age groups!

I remember years back, prior to any family function, people used to make a list of all possible songs that they can sing during Antakshari and help their team! The list was the most prized possession and participants used to be possessive about the same! With new technology, there's no need to prepare any list. Recently at a function, many (including me!) were browsing their music players in their cell phones/iPod/MP3 players when they couldn't think of any song!

But off late, Antakshari has lost its popularity which is very unfortunate. But let's revive it! Presenting a fun activity on the occasion of Fenil's Bollywood Talk Double Centenary Celebrations, MS Antakshari Version 2!

The rules are as follows:

  1. There won't be any teams here.

  2. In the comments section, you have to sing (or rather type) the song that starts with the letter with which the song sung by the member above your comment ended! So for instance, if I have mentioned the song 'Aao ji aao ji, dil se dil milaao ji, aa gaya hai dekho Bodyguard', then the person commenting after me should mention a song beginning with 'd'.

  3. While playing Antakshari, we consider the consonantand not the vowelwhile deciding the last letter of the song. So if you come up with the song ‘Aankhon mein teri ajab si ajab si adaayein hai…’, the next song should start with ‘H’ and not ‘I’

  4. After singing the song, mention the letter of the song that the next commenter is supposed to sing.

  5. Start singing the song from its mukhda and not the antara. 'Aal Izz Well' should start from 'Jab life ho out of control…' and similarly, 'Give Me Some Sunshine' should commence from 'Saari Umr Hum…'!

  6. No need to sing the whole song… just the first 3-4 lines!

  7. Only Hindi songs will be allowed!

  8. You can repeat a song but only if there's a gap of 40 comments in between. For instance, if I have mentioned 'Mehendi laga ke rakhna' in the 25th comment , you can sing this song but only after the 65th comment (provided we get that many comments here!).

  9. Those who will contribute the maximum number of songs by Saturday 2 pm will get the title of 'MS Antakshari King/Queen'! The rest will also get prizes for their contributions!

I m sure that this is a game where everyone can participate! So please help me make it a success! Expecting a rocking time!

P.S.: This awesome idea of Antakshari was given to me by Sam Sammy ( @confusedsoul )! Thanks a ton!!
