ELEPHANTINE ang ER ?

By: cyrilsunil | Posted Feb 06, 2015 | General | 654 Views

When I was child during the moral science classes, the teacher would share stories having moral values. Few of the stories where such that it would emotionally blackmail and create a feeling of sadness. Some of the stories were discussed after the school hours.

The Times of India, published a small picture of “Elephantine Anger” in the front page. May be by mistake the photo might have come in front page. The picture showed the elephants reduced a new VW polo car to pulp after it hit a calf resulting in its death. For a second reading this incident, I could only visualize

  1. same accident had happened to a common man.

May be the family would feel the pain. no body would have bothered, for some this woudl have been an matter for one debate and then some NGO would file a case and it would go years and years.

  1. same incident would have happened to some local leader or influential leader,

then based on his wide spread power and influence the mob and people would have reacted. The TV anchors would have debated during the prime hour and popped up with breaking news every minute. Few TV anchors would make a huge cry and show as if they would provide justice and they would give media trial.

We have witnessed these incidents in the past and will be witnessing in future too.

I felt what would have happened if the herd of elephants could have done the same. vandalize the public and private property. Infact they had lost a claf. They were not wrong, they were just crossing the road and forest department had displayed boards. They could have destroyed the road, root out the trees and block the road. But they had vied out their anger through smashing the car. How matured they are!

Bottom-line:

I recollected the phrase “Education has made human more selfish and loose emotions” displayed near one of the bookstalls in pune. We may make fun of animals, but they are more emotionally connected then humans. May be no obituary or no prayer for these souls!
