A month ago, group of employees were whispering with sympathy in their face near the cafeteria. Looking at their faces, once can recognize something has gone wrong. It was obituary for the departed employee in the organization. As the day progressed, an obituary was communicated through communication mailer for repose of the departed soul. As the time moved, everyone was busy with their work and the next day was a routine. This is just routine in our day to day life. Life is just a journey without any milestones, few plan and derive goals, which when we depart nobody remembers and reminds. May be the employee was not with greater designation.

Last week, in the morning a sad news was communicated across the organisation. The previous managing director of the organisation was called to adobe. There was obituary and his achievements and efforts to build the organisation was reminded. The organisation organized and reminded employees to observe two minutes of silence for the departed soul. Time was fixed and bell was rang to ensure employees observed silence and prayed. A photo was kept near the prominent place and leaders payed homage by offering flowers. The departed soul might have felt blissful, as the leaders prayed and payed homage.

The above incident, made me think, the prioritization and parity even in death. Death is common and inevitable, however we to make difference especially when the departed is powerful and connected.

I think God is great and he has not differentiated between rich and poor in death. May be the funeral spending for the rich may be with full of flowers and good coffins. However when laid in rest, the worms doesn’t differentiate the rich and poor. The burial ground doesn’t make rich, richer and poor – poorer. The designated and common are same both follow the common process of decay. Even when cremated the fire and heat remains the same, whether you pour ghee or petrol both are flammable.

Life is such – Death is common!
