Dysfunctional families

Finished with the inheritance of loss...very well written and very depressing. Dysfunctional families zindabad. Well at least they make for good reading in a way.

Borrowed a copy of 'NOT without my daughter' from one of my colleauges...well I was sort of forced to take it and read it by her.

And I must say,Ive nearly completed the book and I loved it. This book was the basis of the flop Hindi film 'Shakti' which was released in 2002 or 03 (donno the year).

The book is disturbing to say the least. Its the account of an American woman (Betty Mahmoody) who gones on a visit with her 5 year old daughter to Iran in 1984 and is forced by her Iraninan husband to stay back. The abuse that she goes through and the state of women in Iran is described in great detail.

The thing about this friend of mine is that Ive read another book that she recommended which went by the name of 'Princess' and then the second in the series 'Daughters of Arabia'. The 2 books have purpotedly been written by a princess of the Al Saud family who are the rulers of Saudi Arabia. The depravations that the women in these countries have to go through is soul wrenching.

Being born a woman anint easy...aint easy. And I get it.

Bas...ab kuch halka fulka hi read karoonga...at least for this weekend.Bahut ho gayi duniyadari...Guys if you could recommend something fun...maybe Ill curl up with a PG or whatever is suggested.
