Now a days when any new movie or any new song is just a remote away, I can’t help but remember my childhood days when Sunday Hindi movie was the ‘ Biggest event of my week”. The excitement that I felt for Wednesday and Friday’s Chitrahaar every week is something I think I will never ever be able to experience again in my life …
Oh Boy! I used to be on 7th sky if Chitrahaar aired any of Salman Khan’s song. That night I could hardly sleep in excitement of discussing that song with my friends at school the next day and if I missed it …. It felt like the “ End of the world !!!”
Once it was announced that “ Jagruti ( *ing Salman and Karshima”” will be aired the following Sunday. The whole week, I could hardly eat , sleep , study , play….After all after umpteen prayers and eternal wait finally DD was going to show my star’s movie. I didn’t even mind the presence of Karishma in the movie ( I couldn’t even stand her back then…). So, finally that beautiful Sunday came…. I finished all my homework before 5pm and then kept checking time literally after every 30 secs but on that Sunday time was moving TOO SLOW!!!!
Finally it was time for THE SUNDAY Movie “ 5:30pm”. As if all this wait was not enough, I had to wait for those un-ending commercials to finish as well. I waited as patiently as I could and kept praying “ bas yeh last commercial ho…” Finally God answered my prayers and I saw JAGRITI written on the TV screen *ing Abhi Bhattacharya,PranotiGhosh,KanuRoy, Mehmood, Dhumal, Bipin Gupta, Ghanshyam .
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! So, this was the old Jagruti !!! No, this couldn’t happen to me after all this eternal wait , I didn’t deserve it !!! I hate u “DD” I hate u !!! I kept saying this with my eyes filled with tears and my heart broken into tiny pieces. I vowed that now I am never going to watch Sunday Movies, DD people r liars….
I was upset the whole week and then came another Sunday evening and I saw myself sitting near the TV hoping for at least a new movie if not Salman Khan’s….. After all this was the “ Biggest event of my week” !!!
