They once called it an idiot box, and they called you a couch potato. Well, you can ask who ever said that to go and eat his words! The idiot box has got a lot smarter, perhaps smarter that you can imagine. Besides, you are no more a staid and bored couch potato! You look kind of dandy watching your favourite matches, serials and movies because it’s a 3D television bro and you have got to wear those smart black glasses that cost as much as Rs 8000 for a pair. Even the dusky Bipasha looked good in those glasses at the launch of some ten models of 3D televisions from Samsung in New Delhi.

Hoping to redefine the home entertainment experience for consumers in India, Samsung recently announced the launch of India’s first and largest range of 3D televisions across the LED, LCD and Plasma platforms.

And please do not worry about the 2D content. For those who want to add the third dimension to their regular TV viewing, the company has included in its 3D processor, an auto-conversion technology that renders 2D content into 3D in real time—an industry first. So all the IPL matches and the sundry other television programmes can be watched with amazing depth and clarity. So are you canceling your Rs 12,000 worth ticket for the IPL match to catch all the action in your own living room with your feet up and a glass of beer in your hand? Thank you Samsung, life’s got a lot easier! Trust CARNSTYLE for that. The 3D LED televisions are available in the screen sizes between 40 inches to 65 inches priced between Rs 1.3 lakh to Rs 4.35 lakh. The 3D LCD series is available in the 46 inches and 55 inches screen sizes, priced Rs 1.29 lakh and Rs 1.86 lakh respectively. The 63 inches 3D plasma TV is priced at Rs 3 lakh. The company will provide one pair of 3D glasses with each set you buy. So that means, your wife gets one free while you and your kids can shop for brand new pairs.

With the launch of these 3D televisions Samsung seeks to provide consumers with a completely immersive and comfortable 3D home entertainment experience that has never been experienced by consumers anywhere, said Jung Soo Shin, president and CEO, Samsung South West Asia.

The company is also seeking to create the 3D eco system in the country by launching its 3D Blu ray player BD-C6900; Blu-ray integrated home theatre system HT-C6950 and 3D active glasses. With a comprehensive 2010 lineup of 3D TV offerings beyond LED TVs, LCD TVs, plasma TVs, Blue-ray players and proprietary 3D glasses, Samsung is delivering on its vision to create a total 3D solution for home entertainment.

Said Ravinder Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India, “we expect our 3D TVs to constitute around one-tenth of our total LED TV sales this year. The company hopes to sell 1.2 million flat panel TVs in 2010 of which LED TVs would constitute 3 lakh units.

Samsung Full HD 3D TVs eliminate one of the barriers of 3D adoption—lack of content—by rendering 2D content into 3D with a push of a button. Based on its strategic alliance with DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc globally, Samsung is providing for the first time, feature-length 3D Blu-ray version of DreamWorks Animation’s 2009 release, Monsters vs Aliens (exclusive to Samsung products) with every Samsung 3D television. Internet@TV

With built-in Ethernet connection and wireless-ready capabilities, the 2010 Samsung 3D TV line-up is ready to meet the growing consumer demand for “content without borders”. The upgraded internet@TV feature now allows Samsung Apps providing consumers with an expanded, easy to navigate selection of content and applications from leading services like the Associated Press, Blockbuster, Fashion TV, Netflix and YouTube among others. Applications can be downloaded and viewed all while watching TV. The entire range of 3D full HD TVs launched by Samsung includes the upgraded Internet@TV with Samsung Apps with the all share feature that allows users to wirelessly connect their TV with compatible mobile devices. That means users can share movies, photos and music through a single device---the Samsung 3D TV. So what’s stopping you? Go and buy the new Samsung product. Your family is gong to love you for this!
