Car Helpline Services - helpful or what?

CROSS ROADS CARE HELP LINE SERVICES

Misfortunate but yeah most of the times of Indian roads the reason you need help is that you have had an accident or hit something ... few days back I had the same experience where a Xylo taxi hit my santro. Car was severly damaged and even I sustained minor injuries - though I will call it a miraculous escape.

I happened to have the membership with Cross Roads Car helpline and thought it would be good idea to call them up and get the car towed to workshop before going home or hospital for first aid. Cross roads help line categorically denied any help as they do not help in accident cases and also inspite of the details in their placard and help documents being siggestive of the fact that will help injured person reach a hospital, I was told that the help is only provided if the person is a doctor. I find both the cluases and fine prints (if there are any) meaningless and stupid as if I am a doctor I will be knowing where to go and whom to call.

They gave me a no of some private twoing agency which also did not pick up the phone and I had to wait for almost 90 minutes before I called up my workshop and gthey provided me witha private no of a towing agency - which turned out to be a police towing vehicle which was making money in the night for extra services.

All of us are aware of the public services and how best we should avoid taking help from them but what beats is the private services like these car helplines which refuse to help when you need them the most.

Please be careful before subscribing to such services and read the fine prints carefully.

Good luck
