Ban on Hansda Shekhar's ‘The Adivasi will not Dance’

Hansda Shekhar’s ban on Hindu literary prize winner collection of short stories that ‘The Adivasi will not Dance’ was really shocking to me. Once again the question of freedom of expression was emerged in India that is serious concern for creative writer. They have to face rages form the society those concern for only politics and makes scapegoat to the writer. Often writer is alone and never damage to vote bank of the politicians. So they are always in search of opportunities to blame to the writer and fulfill their political needs very systematically. The writer always writes about their experience in the society that he or she born and brought up. They follow the liberal view about the vision of life and inspire for radical change in the society. We should follow and accept what is good and leave those things we think bad and harmful to us. Readers have always the freedom of choice so first they should read it carefully and then make it clear about the piece of writing. Second cry was always that a writer writes about sexuality and polluted the society but the sexuality is not treated badly because on the sexual relation between man and woman that unfolds the social health of the society. Sexual writing is not new but some people make extra concern about sex and snatch the freedom of writer on the base of low and order. Shekhar also blamed that he has described Santhal woman in bad light, rather than accepting reality and making sustainable development they blame the writer who show the cause of the real disease. They should respect the writer Hansda Shekhar for his intellectual contribution for the development of community. But government has banned and marching protests are organized in the Jharkhand state against the writer is really painstaking.

Next thing I consider is that why should writer stop making criticism, those accept appreciation they should have dared also to accept the harsh criticism. Those governments stopping critical voices are really democratic in view have to consider with second thought. Why they stop the voice of writer rather than making public awareness about the serious issues in the society. Though public good is important at the same time voice of writer is also important for the well-being of the society. The writer and reader have same cooperation for books, they have reciprocal relationship, and then why always writer have to step on the court for justice. Writer should not stop their writing, and they should fight more forcefully with the same pen. The power of pen should not be lost on any cost then there were no difference between democracy and fascist regime. Tamil writer Perumal Murugan was announced his literary death after the outcry of conservative, but we expect that at least Hansda Shekhar comes with strong step that he says he is “fighting the ban by writing even more stories, articles and translations because my supporters want me to writer even more, and fearlessly.” That’s one hope for us.
