While placards having been giving birth to controversies on twitter lately, one placard has definitely stood out amongst the all of them
Our very own Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan tweeted a picture of him holding a placard which read'"When I die, the assets I shall leave behind shall be shared equally between my daughter and my son." The hashtags - #WeAreEqual and #GenderEquality."
Setting an example for the entire nation and his fans, his tweet sends a strong message of gender equality and women empowerment. Even today, the girl child is not handed an equal part of her parent's assets in our country. In some cases, girls are not given any share from the family heritage.
Even though the scenario in our country has become better than what it was previously, the injustice has not been eradicated completely and totally. As a daughter, I am grateful to Mr. Bachan for sharing his noble views on the subject and taking an indirect stand for all the daughters of the nation. I just hope that more and more people take a cue from what Amitabh sir plans to do and imbibe his off-screen actions too
