We are in the month of October and the year is coming to a close. I always wanted to write about this month, as I personally feel that it is difficult to pinpoint the characteristics that go to make up this month. We in India, are in a transit when it comes to the weather, with the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon and the onset of the winter months of November, December and January. October is pleasant up north, with balmy days providing respite from the sticky, sweaty summer months. You get to see clear blue skies after spells of monsoon rain. In fact this is one of the best times to visit India. However, it is not yet time for sweaters to tumble out of the cupboards, for protection against the colder months ahead. October is a month with holidays in abundance, both internationally and nationally. In India celebrations are in full swing with the ganesh puja, navratri festival, dussehra or vijay dashami, gandhi jayanti, sardar vallabhai patel jayanti, Boss day, world vegetarian day, world smile day, national unity to name a few. Also, the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, falls in this month. It is a celebration of times, with the tankards of chilled beer overflowing and the spirits being at an all time high.October is also called "winmonath", or the month when wine was made, in old England, occupying a pride of place in history. I feel that the month of October is teasing with warm sunny days and at the same time bringing in cold winds from the snowladen upper reaches of the Himalayas.This is a month which is longer than some other months, unable to make up its mind whether to linger on or to fade away in all its glory, which ushered in a season of festivity and happiness. If you are interested in the zodiac, you maybe happy to know that the people born in this month are incurable romantics.Babies born under this sign grow up ro be healthy adults and traditionally have a great cardiovascular health and lower cholesterol levels. October is a month of character with traits of its own which makes it unique. So enjoy what the month has to offer while it lasts.
