Aamir – Shahrukh: Bade Miyan, Chhote Miyan

By: chatpati | Posted May 02, 2009 | General | 756 Views

There has always been a tussle going on between Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan. Both subtly try to pull down each other. They have taken repartees at each other via media. Their skirmishes go on.

But despite all this, they showed their solidarity with the producers in their revenue sharing strike with the multiplexes. Aamir and SRK shared the same platform over this issue.

Can’t say if one is better than the other but recent performances point to Aamir being bade miyan and SRK being chhote miyan. That’s about it. Bade Miyanhas clearly maintained his lead over chhote miyan not only age-wise or performance-wise but money-wise too.

Ghajini has been a resounding success whereas Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was a hit. Aamir is the number 1 brand ambassador charging about Rs 10 crore. SRK comes a close second.

SRK is on record saying there is no bigger brand than him. Aamir retaliated saying though SRK is a good actor; he is scared of working with him.

Aamir joked that by turning into a barber for a day for Ghajini promotion, he was even promoting Shah Rukh's next venture Billu Barber. SRK paid lip service to this.

Aamir had earlier uncharitably said he has a pet dog named Shah Rukh. SRK replied, "Gauri gets upset when I crack jokes about naming my dog Aamir. She thinks why should I bring myself down by doing or saying such things? I understand that she doesn't want me to lose my dignity, but sometimes I think it is absolutely necessary as people ask for it."

A city-based NGO had launched a nationwide voter awareness campaign with Aamir Khan. Surprisingly, Aamir refused to talk about his Bollywood peers (read SRK here).

Perhaps Aamir remembered what SRK had said earlier and rightly kept his mouth shut. SRK had said Aamir should restrict himself to commenting on his own films and himself and not on SRK as Aamir is not his PR.

I am not sure if this is media gimmick just to promote their releases or to gain phookat ka publicity. Aamir should be magnanimous instead of stooping so low. SRK is fun-loving guy. He doesn’t hurt anyone by his comments.

Whatever it may be, one thing is clear. There is no doubt SRK is the King. But Ghajini’s blockbuster status and Aamir being the top brand ambassador makes him bade miyan. After all, it is all about money. The tingu Khan is way way ahead. Buck up, King.
