Harish Mehta and Niketa have approached the court to abort their female kid ? in her 25th week of pregnancy. Legally under 20 weeks abortion is permitted. Once this period is over it is dangerous for the mother to undergo abortion.
Ethical issues surrounding the abortion is that a life is being exterminated without giving an opportunity to live. Practical consideration of the parents is the cost of bringing up the child with congenital heart disease, which can be expensive treatment for a life long period. Assuming it is a female kid getting her married will become another issue to surmount.
Now the Church has come to the aid of the parents stating that they will sponsor or adopt the child. Now it is for the parents to decide the fate of the child who has been assured full support by the church. Let us not enter into the dirty realm of conversion or church taking advantage of the adverse circumstances of the parents. We should applaud the church for showing concern to the life of the unborn kid.
How many of the Msians support that the child should be given a chance to live and battle triumphantly over the congenital heart disease, considering the rapid advance medical field is undergoing. Will the court grant permission is another issue, a permission to kill an innocent life ?
Update : An unborn child has constitutional right to life after 20 weeks, only under exceptional case of danger to life of the mother can abortion be carried out.
Update : A wild charge is made by one of the members stating that the ones who support the law and childs right to live are all cowards. My reply to that charge is only cowards resort to killing and brave attempt to rescue a life.
HERE IS THE ULTIMATE PROOF
During a routine ultra-sound they found an excesive amount of fluid where the spine meets the skull. The prognosis was that my son would be severly disabled and that we should consider the options. Our response was simple; There were NO options. My point of view is that human life begins at conception and doesn’t happen at some subjective point in the foetus’s development (it’s also less confusing that way!). We had scan after scan and they kept reminding us that it was not too late to consider the ’option’. Thankfully, it’s not too late today either; my son is nine reaching ten is NOT disabled physically or mentally. He is a lovely healthy child . HATS OFF SURYA008

The curtain has come down with God aborting the child. I doubt that God will commit such a cardinal sin. Anyways the couple gets away with the benefit of doubt. I hope they dont attempt another heinious attempt.
