A Tiny Something.

By: evil_ot_to_live | Posted Mar 03, 2009 | Social Experiments. | 791 Views

It's really weird how it all started, really. Call it exploitation of the internet's exclusive and amazing provision of anonymity, call it a safety measure, call it a means of being able to laugh at how easy it is to trust someone virtually, whatever. Let's just call it a Tiny Something that gave birth to a character called, quite simply, 'The Krypt'. But, in the end - actually, screw the end, let's speak of the beginning.

I was always called a tomboy, throughout my life. 'You're not girly, enough,' my mum used to crib. 'WHAT?! You DON'T like shopping/painting your nails/(insert-anything-a-typical-girl'd-like)?' my friends cried, apalled, the options depending on what my age was at the time of the forementioned shocked response. That got me thinking. It's weird. DO I have to follow certain set patterns or like certain things to be a girl? Can I not just be ME and be a girl, simultaneously? Wow, that's pretty broadminded of you, Roshni, thank you. :)

That's around about when the Mouthshut bug bit me. I was googling for a review on something (can't remember what. That was 4 years ago, cut me some slack) and the first hit was a review by 'Sainath' on a site called 'Mouthshut'. No, the name of the site didn't strike me as being, well, striking;no, 'Sainath' didn't tickle my hormones; no. The only reason I clicked on the link was that it was the first hit on the page. So, well. Then I got in and I realised this 'Sainath' guy was no professional, neither were the people who even commented on the review. Call me ignorant or whateveryouwill, but that was the first time I realised that even Icould post reviews and musings on stuff on the internet. And THAT, was what attracted me to Mouthshut, not any catchy name.

So, this got me excited and I wanted to create a profile too. Just for myself. My page. Was I excited? Well, what does it seem like? :) Anyway, it was time to enter the username I wanted to choose and I was about to type my name when I stopped. They'd all called me boyish. Well, heh, why not GIVE them a boyish character, then? And so, I entered this little palindrome I'd come up with that went 'evil_ot_to_live' and gave birth to 'The Krypt'. I was a mom. Why did I do that? Kindly re-read the first paragraph, thank you.

For four years, on and off, 'the Krypt' has been writing on this site. Tell me, honestly, (if you've ever read ANY of his works before, that is), has 'The Krypt' ever given you reason enough for you to even suspect, that he was, in fact, a she? Except, perhaps, in his last review where I was tempted to convert him into 'The Kryptina'. Heh.

Ah well. Maybe, just maybe, they WERE right, after all. Maybe, I AM boyish. But does that make me any less of a girl? Does it? Ah well, you can take it in writing, it doesn't. Just like how a 'boycut' doesn't make Kiran Bedi or Barkha Dutt any less feminine. I'm happy being me. I'm at peace with myself. And THAT is a true story.

That The Krypt has always liked realistic fiction, is also a true story, by the way. The above piece is just that. Some true incidents mixed with a lot of made up ones. What's the point, you ask? Well, The Krypt was just musing over how easily human beings trust each other and how easy it is to fool, them. He just extended his musings onto Mouthshut.

No wonder politicians exist.

Oh, and a tiny incident that The Krypt wants to share. He overheard a couple of ghosts speak (ghosts are different from Hell's devils; he'll explain later, maybe in some other post):

Ghost 1: Do you believe in gulp politicians?

Ghost 2: gasp Don't take that name! My mum used to scare me to sleep using their name whenever I used to be naughty. :(

Be scared. Be VERY scared.
