A Mother's Worth

By: astrofreak1234 | Posted May 11, 2008 | From My Heart | 496 Views | (Updated May 11, 2008 03:12 PM)

Maa, a simple word but filled with love, I can never forget the scene in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where the younger Anjali utters the word Maa, when I watched this movie in the theatre , the whole hall echoed with this word…

“Ai Maa teri soorat se alag Bhagwan ki soorat kya hogi” … What prompted the writer of this song to write song  a that compares a Mother to God. It is really nice to know that the status of a mother is an exalted one…

But why is she exalted? Of course! Why shouldn’t she be exalted, she is the one who carries her child for nine months, goes through all the nausea and sickness, the fear of miscarrying or premature never leaves her. Going through the ardorous task of giving birth, giving up sleep and food so that she can look after her child. Teaching the child to walk and speak, and doing all other tasks that mothers generally do. She is her child’s first teacher, teaches him/her everything with love and patience. She guides her child throughtout his/her life, corrects  and punishes when needed. She sacrifices, so that her child is never short of things. She rests only when her child is married and is restless again until the first grandchild arrives. She is all set to pamper her grandchild…..

I know the value of a mother now that I am one too. My mother was a very simple person, very loving and caring. Being the baby of my family, I had never left her (except once) until I got married, whenever I fell sick, she automatically knew without being told, she would call me up and ask about my health. She was always concerned about me. I lost her five months back but no one can fill the void left by her. May her soul rest in peace…

When I am speaking of mother, I should also thank my Mother-in-law for she encourages me to continue studying. She also has given me her son , if not for her, I wouldn’t have a nice and sweet husband. She also went through a lot so that she could educate her children…

There is more joy in being a mother than simply being a daughter, sister or a wife. I felt complete when my son was born. Hearing the announcement of his arrival made me forget all the pain and sickness; the worries of nine months vanished in a jiffy. I was overwhelmed when I saw him, a perfectly healthy and kicking baby. I could feel all the love pouring out. I still remember the sleepless days and nights but all worth it. Now he has grown into a young man of fifteen and he is my best friend…

I think no woman feels complete without becoming a mother. So Hats Off to all Mothers and wish you all a  !!! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY !!!
