Do you remember reading this quote " The secret to success is hard work"?

Come the digital age, Come social media and the quote has been turned upside down

In today's age,'The secret to success is selling Chai'.

On a serious note, it makes my chest swell with pride that a 26-year-old Indian was awarded'Australia's Businesswoman of the year award' at the 2016 Indian Australian Business and Community Awards(IABCA) at a glittering ceremony in Sydney last week.

When Uppma Virdi moved to Australia, she was heart-broken on not finding any places which served Good Indian tea.

“In the Indian culture people come together through tea. Whether it’s a happy occasion or a difficult moment, tea is all pervasive. I tried, but couldn’t find many good tea places in Australia,” said Uppma SBS

Dejected on losing out on good Indian tea, she decided to take the matter upon herself which led her to found'Chai wali'

.

Since she is a lawyer, her family was very apprehensive towards her'Chai wali' start-up idea.

"My parents and family were totally against it.they said I was a lawyer, why did I want to be a tea seller?I said I wanted to show that tea sellers can do something"

Uppma's grandfather, who is an ayurvedic doctor and herbal tea enthusiast help her with different kind of Ayurvedic tea concoctions for her online tea store

Other than the online store uppma also runs'The art of chai' workshops to teach people to brew the perfect chai.
