Update: Crossed 93,000 km and still going strong - commnads appreciable road presence now that its discontinued - few bumps and dents on the body, will get them repaired with the 1,00,000 km servicing. Main point is: fuel economy is still holding up at 17.2 km/l in city, with regular servicing ever...y 10,000 km. No unaccountable noises in cabin, no rattling, etc. The car is as solid as ever. Will cross the 1 lakh mark easily - barring accidents, of course. Tata does not have a sedan car in this class now-a-days - the Tigor/Zest may have latest electonics but are a class below in terms of dimensions, comfort, etc.Read More

Hi Samcan123, Yes - I sold the Indica Lxi off for Rs 1.25 lakhs during Oct 2010, with 68000km on the odo. Based on my usage- I considered it a fair price in Hyderabad city. I have bought a Manza Quadrajet ABS sedan - black in colour, and since Nov 23rd (delivery date) to yesterday I have alread...y clocked 10300 km. I'll write a review in next 1-2 weekends. Have a great weekend on your Indica Lxi!Read More

If it is a genuine Tissot, this is very strange. May I request you to please mention the model (Tissot has so many models) and any other details on the watch. From your review it is apparent that the watch showed this problem after about 3 years. Could be that simply it is a battery replacement issu...e? If India/US dealers are not good enough I would suggest you contact Tissot Switzerland directly. They are bound to take an interest in the matter and provide you some support.Read More

Please write a more detailed review with coverage on topics like - how does it handle on the highways? How does it run on the treacherous Ghat Roads of India? Does it swerve when brakes are applied at 110 km/h? What does the interior look like? Is it soft and comfortable with decent furnishings? We ...expect a little more detail....Read More

Folks, please read my earlier review on Tata Indica Lxi - you'll get a sense of continuity if you read that review first. Here I concentrate on how well the car handled in the last Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam tour: 12-01-2007: From Hyderabad we started early on 5th Jan - with 5 adults, 1 child, 1...Read more

I visited there with family in Oct 2004, stayed at Punnami Hotel at hill colony and enjoyed the dam. No restrictions there, unless you stop your car in security zones. Dam visit should be done as early in the morning as possible - photography conditions are the best at that time. Also, no mention in... your review on Nagarjunkonda Buddhist Museum. I visited there and there were lot of historic artifacts and relics. The island is dead-calm. If you go to a remote corner and concentrate you'll get the creeps - its so silent. They have a nice guest house at Ethipothala falls, but if you want to stay there make sure you have communicated food requirements earlier. I am visiting Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam again in Jan 2007 and shall write a detailed review then.Read More

With 25000+ clocked on my Lxi, I still love it and maintain it like brand new. Pl. also read Dec 2006 Autocar India where they have shown snaps of the new futuristic Indica (with at least 100bhp engine). I am just waiting for it to get launched and may exchange my old car for it....since you are an... enthusiast, thought of sharing my view. Thanks for a fairly detailed review.Read More

I fully agree to your view about workshop quality. Same attitude here in Hyderabad. Read my review on Malik cars. i got so frustrated that i removed all traces of their name from my car. Now-a-days I double check everything on my car before i take a delivery after service. Know what? you know your ...car best. It helps tremendously if you take the pains to read a couple of car magazines like Autocar India, etc...they discuss technical issues with details.Read More

I bought my Indica Lxi in July 2004. Yes, did get couple of problem in the first year, had my due share of problems with the dealer Malik cars in Hyderabad, but overall, I am still satisfied with the car. This was my first 4 wheeler experience - 2 years have gone by, I'll use this car for another 2y...rs max...after that it's time to sell it off/exchange it for a new car, and this time it certainly won't be Tata - that's for sure. After 2 yrs of using this car - I think I deserve somewhat better quality - maybe in a Honda/Toyota/Skoda, perhaps?Read More

Palio no doubt is a much more refined car - both the 1.2L and 1.6L models. But then just compare the costs. Compare the costs of spares/maintenance.

If you are buying a car with the intention of getting a good resale value that is fine, but then, in that case you must have already known about the resale value of Indica BEFORE you bought the car. I mean you should have done that research earlier. What we write in the reviews is how the car ACTUAL...LY performs, its tangible pros and cons, not public opinion, which is something intangible.Read More

As far as I am concerned - the truth in William's review is : Tata should indeed have modified the shape of the Indica. My opinion is why always keep comparing among cars in the Indian market? Can't we design something with a fresh new look? Look at the new Renault Clio 1.4 Dynamique/Fiat Punt...o 1.4/Volkswagen Polo 1.4 SE models. They are a rage in Europe. They look fabulous too. Now don't get me wrong here - at the price of Indica I am not mad that I shall ask for that kind of quality or interior equipment. But the shape of Indica can surely be improved. Buyers looks for something new - and the best way to get their attention is to make a better shape. That costs for the initial setup of production line but then you must innovate to keep ahead of others....Tata should not rest on its laurels....Read More

1. Back gear shift - does it sometimes slip? 2. Alternator belt tension - on a cold morning does it squeal on first startup? 3. After a rainy/waterlogged day, does the horn sound different and somewhat suppressed? Just trying to know if you got these issues - I did when I first bought my Indica... Lxi in 2004 - now all these problems are resolved.Read More

I would say 13 km/l is good enough for the first 5000 km. After the first service it will go up to 14, and if you are careful in driving to even 15, but don't count on it. Indica is a solid 1005 kg weighty car - much heavier than Alto/Santro. With a 1396cc/70 BHP engine it easily outclasses Alto ...in every respect, so we should compare among equals, like, say Fiat Palio/Swift/Getz.Read More

I am not saying that Tatas make fuel efficient cars in petrol, but hey, there are so many people out there making a decent 11-12 km/l in the city drive with full AC. The other reviews acknowldge that. I myself get about 11.5 km/l in Hyderabad that too in a 2 yr old Indica Lxi - so either your car h...as a serious defect, or something to do with your driving. If your dealer can't fix this then please contact Tata directly with a detailed letter - surely they'll respond. It can't be that bad as 6.5 km/l - even HM Ambassador does better than that!! Also - one or two failures doesn't really disqualifies the car.... Try keeping the RPM needle within 2-3. It should be enough for city driving.Read More

That pun about about Indica being looked on as a taxi was very funny!! Reminded me of the days when I used to get picked up by the chauffer driven Lincoln Continental at Merrill Lynch at New Jersey - to my peers there - THAT was a taxi. Santro is a good car, but Indica Xeta petrol is far bette...r, engine 1396cc/70 BHP, biggest cabin space - and front seat comfort? Did you ever test drive an Indica Xeta? Try one out. Pickup? Santro is a no-brainer - can overtake a Santro anytime anywhere with FULL AC no sweat!! Try Santro and Indica Xeta on a hill road and you'll see the difference.Read More

Was VERY surprised that Indica Xeta did not figure in your list of 'other' options - but then people obsessed with Hyundai generally don't see value anywhere else. On ANY counts - Indica Xeta wins - better space, better pickup, equal fuel efficiency and a much better design. With a 1396cc 70 ...bhp engine and 12+ km/l on road (petrol) and good chassis and balance, it is a very good choice.Read More

Negligence and 'least bothered' attitude is common with car dealers here...I am facing similar problems with Malik Cars. That leaves out AutoFin. I'll get my next service done there and I'll report my experiences in this forum in December this year. But I am curious to know a few facts about you...r car : 1. If it has run only 6000km, it should normally need either 1st free service (ideally at 5000 km) or at most the 2nd free service (ideally at 10000 km). How come you went there for 'third' free service? 2. What make/model is your Indica? Did you have any accidents in it? i ask this because the dealer workshop sometimes do not repair everything at one shot - either intentionally or by carelessness - it happened with me. 3. If I had the time and energy - I would do my car servicing myself - (as American/Europeans do) - I can say one thing : YOU know your car best - how it responds, what are its advantages and disadvantages. Fight till you get what is due to you, and don't give up.Read More

Public opinion is dependable, but only up to a point. One of my friends didn't want to buy the Indica as it is the most prevalent rental car available in any town!! Pros and Cons of a car is best reviewed from a owner community forum, people who have really used the car, and driven 15000-20000 km... or more....the car is a stable, sturdy, no-nonsense kind of vehicle and is good value for the cost price. It is not a racing car, neither is it a top performer on fuel, but scores high in other aspects - mainly space, equipment and hassle-free maintenance. Lets leave it at that. :)Read More
