Hahahahha..... what did you mean by saying 'For a 70kg person, we are spending the power of 65 horses. REMEMBER GLOBAL WARMING & REMEMBER ONE DAY THERE WILL BE NO PETROLIUM FUEL IN THIS WORLD. '? I guess you should buy 1 horse with 1 horse power. It will never ask you for petrol too. Or may be yo...u cant invent a car with an engine of 1BHP and which goes @ 200kmph like you drive a Honda City? But hey get the aerodynamics right so that you can also do a U turn @ 200 kmph. And hey don't forget to tell me; coz I will be the first one to buy your engineering marvel! and give it to WALL-ERead More

Hi MumAvi, Sorry for being late. Anyways, if Santro is within your budget (Rs. 3.5+ L), go for it. My budget was below Rs. 3.5L and I already had a Santro, so i went for the XETA. I have done 8000 kms in around 9 months and I must say, XETA is pretty good. It gives around 14-15 kmpl in city (ave...rage traffic), which is quite good. I haven't spent anything on the repairs in the 9 months except for Wheel balancing, Engine Oil and Oil filter (Rs. 2700 including labour and all taxes) during the second free service, which I believe is pretty inexpensive. The 2nd service is actually due 10000 kms, but i was just ultra-careful so did it at 8000 kms. Santro is a good and proven car. I have one which has run near about 95,000 kms and the engine is still going pretty good. But then I don't take it for long drive as I dont feel it is reliable anymore. I hope this will help you decide which car to buy, if you haven't bought one already. happy driving...Read More

Hi Rajago... sorry for a late reply. I just read your reply on my review 'Indica Xeta 2008 + driving tips'. It seems that you do not know the engineering that runs your car or you were really annoyed by my reply to your review named 'Never Buy a Xeta' on Oct 06, 2008. And hey, I never said Santro is...n't better than a XETA. I have them both. I would certainly suggest a Santro too. But XETA is pretty good for the about 60-70K less. Also, just wanted to clarify some points refering to your reply in my review 'Indica Xeta 2008 + driving tips': 1. Revving up the engine means 'Pressing the accelerator hard'. FYI, Accelerator is the left most pedal of the three pedals that you press by which you move your car ahead. 2. I guess the max speed limit on Indian highways is 80 KMPH (approx.) except on a few expressways. As also, Indian roads ain't good enough for going beyond 70-80kmph. So going at 60-70 kmph should be good enough. That comes to around 1800-2000 RPM in a XETA. 3. It is very very easy to follow the gear shift pattern even in traffic. I am not surprised that you failed to do even that. 4. I am glad you know rule no. 4. But hey, this rule does not apply when there are people in front of you...haha! 5. One point wherein I fully agree with you. The engine of XETA is not as refined as others. But then, if you follow this in any car, you are bound to increase the FE. 6. So you are saying that if there isn't any car in front of you, you are going to jump the red signal? - I suggest you don't do it, as it is against the law to jump red signals. 7. I guess you need to know more about MPFI engines. SUggest you visit www.google.com and search for some info on MPFI engines. Or better, why don't you try out yourselves. Just follow the instructions in point 7. 8. The pleasure is all mine. 9. Nothing is FREE in this world. And TATA isn't an exception. You have pay for engine oil change, oil fiter.Read More

hi Rajago, Your ratings and review are kinda contradicting. You are writting that your car gives a mileage of around 11 to 156 kmpl depending on various drive sections; and you are giving a 1 star for fuel consumption. Well, I agree that it is not as fuel effecient as a wagonR or santro, but th...en 11 to 16 kmpl is decent enough. Again, for comfort you are giving 2 and saying 'Only space & beidge interior attracted me'. I am not sure what heat you are talking about. Either you have kept your car in sun for too long (every car gets damn hot in such cases) or there is a major problem with your engine cooling system. Check the coolant level. Indica spare parts are the cheapest in hatchback category. A TATA original is bound to be expensive that a non-TATA spart part. You may want to check the prices of Hyundai or Maruti genuine accessories and spare parts and you will be amazed! Also, on one hand you say that you have driven it @ 160 kmph and on the other hand you say it is dangerous to drive this car fast. Lastly, I really enjoyed liked your style of writing the review.. Few sentences were rather amusing, like: 1. 'To know your mileage, u have to fill full tank'..... Well, if you want a near accurate mileage, you have to fill up the tank full, note the distance till it is close to empty, and calculate the mileage. 2. '11KM/L - On saturday /sunday'... Wonder if your car has an artificial intelligence or something... It knows abt saturday/sunday.. haha! 3. 'NO ABS NO safety baloons' ... I guess the baloons you are writing about are Air bags! And hey at 160kmph no baloon ... sorry, air bag... can save you unless you are lucky! 4. 'As the speed ups the heart beats up'... i am still LOL! 5. 'If you cannot make something, you can make it big to sell off. Like Videocon do'... Not sure how big (in size) is the Indica AC. And hey, driving a car is not 'BACHCHON KA KHEL'! bye... happy driving!Read More

My dear VINAY_VIN, I thought this space was for entering one's experience of a particular product/service; and not for copying someone else's experience. I am glad that you are seconding my ten driving tips and also following them. As far as typos are concerned, I am raelly bad at taht and wuld...on’t wnat to crorrect soemone esle’s typos…. Haha!. But then, since you have copied my review, I believe you should have taken some pain of correcting my typo errors, so that there would be some value addition in the review that I wrote some 5-6 months back. Anyways, happy driving and do remember MY 10th driving tip too! Best Regards, AcerRead More

hey vinay... congrats on your new tata indica xeta. And thank you for extending (read copying) my 10 driving tips. But hey, you missed the 10th point man! Also, our writing style is pretty much the same. Just read my review with subject 'Indica Xeta 2008 + driving tips' written in May 2008. Any...ways, happy driving, and remember the 10th point too. Cheers, Acer. P.S.: Atleast correct a few typo and grammatical mistakes from the original review if you are copy-pasting one.Read More

hey sub_boss, I must appreciate your imagination.... Which side did you see the Honda City and Hyundai Verna that they seemed to you like a washing machine and a soap box? I agree that the City is kinda old design. But then the design is so good that it doesnt need to be changed. For that matter..., even a Mercedes or a BMW have the same looks that they have about 10 years back. If you have not bought the SX4 yet, just test drive the Verna, and you will be amazed with the responsive engine and the space inside. If you have bought it already, its ok. SX4 is not all that bad. But, I feel it is rather over priced for the features and tech specs that it has.Read More

I feel really sorry for you Amal that you seemed to have received a defectively manufactured piece.... and it seems from your review that it is a defective piece in all aspects, not one. I, for once, have another view of my Indica Xeta GLG; and for a coincedence that I bought it in April' 08 just li...ke you. My car has run around 3400 kms (all in mumbai city traffic) and is giving me a mileage of around 11 to 11.5 kmpl in Mumbai traffic with 70% AC on. The car is damn smooth and takes the mumbai roads (full of potholes) really well. Amal, you said that your driver drives your car. Make sure he is not revving up the engine unnecessarily. The car will simply gulp down the fuel like you drink a bottle of soft drink.. ;) Ask him to follow the gear pattern that is mentioned on the windshield (top right). I did have one problem during end of july. It was that the rear-speaker board (plastic board on which the rear speakers are mounted) got dislocated from its hinge and was making lot of rattle noise when my car hit potholes. I took it to my dealer and he got it rectified in approx. 10 mins. No problems since then.Read More

Hi nanu4u, I will take your points.. Its better to wait for a while for the Xeta LPG review.... Meanwhile, I guess LPG Xeta would be better than CNG Xeta bcoz LPG is more combustible than CNG. I heard that the pickup goes down like anything with CNG; but with LPG it is marginally less. Anyways its... better to wait for while as of now.Read More

hi nanu4u, you got my point! 80kmph @ 2000 rpm is very good. mine is going 80 @ 2100 rpm. meanwhile, i m thinking of installing the LPG kit in my car coz petrol price is bound to rise now - any suggestion to go for it so early on a new car with around 1500 kms run. hi nirbhar: you are right t...hat Tata guys have recommended servicing at 10000 kms. But i used to service our santro every 5000-7000 kms. and it is still going great and giving around 13 kmpl even after 85000+ kms of running! Gear shifting pattern - You should generally change to a higher gear when you feel that your car isn't accelerating any more even after pressing the accelerator more. To assisst you with it, there is the tachometer. For a Tata Indica, I observed that 2000 rpm is the best gear change rpm. That is, you should avoid going above 2000 rpm and change to a higher gear when it touches 2000 rpm. At gear 5 you will be at 80-80 kmpl at 2000 rpm, which is good enough for Indian roads. The lower gears have higher gear ratio, and vice versa. You can notice that while changing the gear from 1st to 2nd, there is a sudden dip in the rpm level. Also on changing from 4th to 5th there will be a slight dip in the rpm but not as much as 1st to 2nd and there on. This is b'coz the higher gear have lower gear ratio. If you are not finding such dip in rpm on gear change, then you are either revving up the engine by applying higher acceleration or there is a problem with the gear box of your vehicle. Read More

Hi, I bought my first car - Tata Indica Xeta GLG (2008 model) in April' 08 and recently clocked my first 1000 kms. I wouldn't glitch a bit to say that it is one of the best cars in hatchback category, also considering that my family also has a Santro which has clocked more than 85K kms and is...Read more
