Good review Jeevan. I have had the Safari for the last 3 years and it has given me much driving pleasure. I used to drive from Chennai to Coonoor regularly (in laws place) in my Petra and used to take nearly 10 hrs for the 600 kms; in the Safari I do it in 8 hrs ! No speeding at all, no rash driving... ---- just cruising and going over the bad roads without slowing down gains you so much time over other cars which have to slow down on bad roads. Now I am settled in Coonoor and the Safari still giving me 14 mileage in the hills. Enjoy your SUV and safe driving ! And yes, the vehicle has more space than many 20 plus lakh SUVs.Read More

Hello Sandeep. Glad you are happy with your C5. I agree with most of your observations (pls read my review, it is in 3 parts) concerning rear brakes, horn, seat comfort. And yes, a fuel gauge would have been nice. While am not sure if a 6th gear option will be available very soon as this would mean ...major rework to the transmission --- RE can make a note of this possiblilty. But dude, dont tell me you use the selfstarter regularly. For me, the fun ones gets from a kick start cant be compared ! anyways, happy riding !Read More

Different views are always welcome; and while I am a Bullet fan, I do not mind criticism of the bike if it is well written and justified. This review has no merit and is not useful at all --- simply because it does not state which things were wrong with your bike. I own a Classic 500, Bullet 500, RD... 350 and RX 100 and can never think of selling any of these bikes.Read More

(Continued from Part 2) COMFORT:  On long drives, one needs to take breaks(say after 3 hours or so). The seat is comfortable enough though I would give the single long seat of my old 500 better marks on comfort. This seat enables one to scootch forward or back and otherwise change position th...Read more

Acquired the Royal Enfield Classic 500 (Teal Green) bike in Nov '10 and after having used it for 6 months a review is surely due. Hopefully it will help those who are planning on buying one; as also those who are proud owners of one. I’ve owned the Bullet 500 (my other bike apart from the RD ...Read more

Hemant You are lucky to get your bike. I've booked it in green, but they say it has a 5-6 month waiting period in Chennai. Also they have stopped taking bookings for the Classic 350. Additionally, I had to sign a declaration form (disclaimer) which stated why they cannot deliver within 6 months. ... I feel RE were not really prepared for the high number of bookings, which does not say much about their confidence in their own product or the foresight displayed by them. It is quite ridiculous, this waiting period ---esp after all the hype and hoopla during the launch. They are saying since it is 'hand crafted' it is taking longer to finish. I wonder which 'parts' of the bike are being handcrafted !? Also dont forget, that this is a model they have already launched in Europe and is being sold there for last two years. In my view it should be a simple matter to ramp up production for the Classics, reduce production of Electra and other models as they dont have that much demand. Will not even suggest that they reduce production for the European and US markets --- they will obviously not do that, its all about the money honey ! And the cheap Indian consumer, as usual always has to be content with the 'leftovers'. So I will wait for the bike, but my regard for the top RE management has fallen considerably. I have booked the bike in different dealerships (booking amount is only 1000), whichever one gets the bike first I will buy from them. But guess they will all arrive at about the same time. (Each dealership is getting 2-4 Classics a month, total orderbook is about 600 for Chennai which is not a big number by any angle.) Guess will visit the Chennai factory and see the 'hand crafting' process first hand ! In the meantime, will continue riding my old bullet 500. Vinay Yohan Read More
