Dear Mikebhat, As I said in my blog, the dealer service is very important for maintenance of any car. My Ford Ikon is 4 months old and I have one free service done to date. My experience SO FAR has been GREAT. The service agents are extremely cordial and go out of their way to make you comfortable a...nd do their best to solve problems. I had some minor problems with the windshield wipers and rear spoilers and they fixed it immediately. If possible Ford also repair ! So far I have not paid even one rupee for service or spares. I did not buy a Fiat (linea) because TaTa service was located 32 km away. Maruti spares are reasonable and service is good but crowded. Ford spares are more expensive but last longer. Labour cost is similar. I have budgeted for the slightly higher cost of Ford service. Also my time is important (my salary is >Rs 3000 per day) and ford service saves my time and money. Appointment over phone (including pick up) versus Maruti's bring the car to service station at 08.30 am and take a chance (first come first served). BTW the IKON is a Sedan and looks much better than a hatchback.Read More

The dashboard on the Ford Ikon Diesel is curved and projects out on the drivers side. On the left side it is cut out to give maximum space for the co-driver. Even... a six footer can sit with ease. I have purchased a new Ford IKON Diesel in Feb 09 and can vouch for this. Please recheckRead More

Good review. You are right about the not-so-good handling at low speeds. How much did the service and consumables cost?

Good Review. How is the quality of the interiors and their performance over 18 months? The seats, Dsshboard, Glove compartment, the door handles, etc. Also mileage in city of 11kmpl is rather low. Why did you not opt for a diesel version?

Agree with the comments. The new ford Ikon diesel 1.4 TDCI is a wonderful Value For Money Sedan. Good looks and finish. Great Handling - Fun to drive. Powerful but frugal diesel engine. Good pickup. Good music system. Has everything you would normally need in a car.
