The hump is for safety just like a corrugated iron sheet is much stronger than a plane sheet of the same dimensions.In case of a back-end collision the hump won't let the back seat hit the front ones thus squashing the backseat passenger.

Apart from mechanical defects, the remote & the control panel have developed quite a few faulty push-buttons on their own without much use! Really poor quality! NEVER EVER TRUST TATA !
