Dear Sir,
Thanks for sharing the info regarding 'Soft beds and Hard Battles' Now I will try watching that movie ;) Also there is one more title probably which initiated a single performer playing multiple roles. I have mentioned this already in one other comment. Sir Alec Guiness playing 8 differ...ent characters including a middle aged lady in the movie 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' An english black comedy released in 1949. Expecting more opinions in days to come!

Indeed its Kamal who need to be saluted. I am just a tool trying to appreciate and discuss the performance of one of the greatest stars of our time. Btw thought of sharing yet another info. One of sites mentioned Sony has aquired the DVD rights for Dasavatharam and this DVD will in...clude interviews, Deleted scenes etc and most shockingly, it is set to release by the end of next month in 3 languages. I am not sure if this is true or just a rumor. However if it is true, I just can't wait to add this title to my existing movie collections ;)Read More

If this is your opinion.... so be it! But why waste time trying to vend your thoughts in name of review? It clearly shows you hate Kamal to the core by comparing such a veteran star with TR? Being a fan of greatest performers of the world, I just feel sorry for your ignorance... and Kamal without a doubt is 'THE' Sakala Kala Valavan of the tamil movie industry next to Chevalier Shivaji Ganesan.
By the way this disaster movie is #11 in UK # 12 in US #2 in Malaysia and been a great commercial hit already. So do you mean the majority of people who made this happen has gone insane?

I just read your review and understood your point of view. Like everyone agree, opinions differ and we need not be on same page :) What I see on this movie is Kamal trying to mix up Science and raises the question of existance/non-existance of god as done in Anbe Sivam and leaves the ...end result in the hands of the viewer which suites both an atheist and a theist which depends on an individual's mindframe which by itself is science ;)
Next I see you mentioning his efforts of praising Christianity and Islam and leaves Hinduism behind. Oops correct me if I am wrong here. We all witnessed the virus being protected within the idol of lord vishnu throughout the major portions of the plot. I personally see Kamal justifying his attempt of not being biased. He brings all three major religions of India and and gives an opening for a discussion where those who believe in god can always say its the act of the almighty and those who aint believe can justify its all science and co-relate to the act of mother nature. Despite the plot remains in controversy ;)
I am looking forward for more opinions from fellow MS'ians

Dear All, this is a good and balanced review and I am really happy to see healthy comments and opinions. One thing that interested me is the mention of 'Naya Din Nayi Raat' and its original version 'Navarathri'. However I would like to mention yet another rare title 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' Made i...n 1940's - A black comedy where Sir Alec Guiness plays 8 different characters which includes a lady too. A pretty good movie. I am not sure if its available everywhere. I am sure if you enjoyed 9 & 10 characters, you might like that too ;)

Well Gentlemen this is the kind of arguement I wanted to avoid. Any ways did you people notice this? Just becuase some one unnecessarily started to compare which resulted in me reverting the question and thus resulting in another person bashin with whom I had no issues. This is Chaos Theory ;) phew!

This dude Narayanan seems to be confused bigtime. I feel sorry for him cuz, at one posting he says this is a public forum and still he does not know how carefully one need approach and express his views.
Okey couple of things
You have mentioned I said everything can never be perfect and then y...ou feel sorry and mention Kamal's Nothing is Perfect. Whats wrong man? both these statements convey the same message. Concentrate Buddy! I did not say 'not' everything can be perfect!

However I do not restrict myself to one set of people. This applies to all my activities and I dont belong to a category of a Kamal fan or a Rajini Fan as I am proud to state I am a fan of all great performers.
Next you mention 'Western Barbarians' Whom do you think Aryans were? born and brought up in India? go check history as they are indeed the weaker set of people who migrated from Iran. So stop every aspect of finding fault at things you dont like just because you love another thing
Classic is different from commercial. what you mentioned are good movies. No doubt but not classics. Similarly the ones I mentioned were movies with good plot , but no where I mentioned 'em as classics. Wake up!
Appreciate people by their efforts and expand your circle which makes you cool and will help you analyze more things in a proper way.
