Also, DONT USE BAJAJ ENGINE OIL.IT LOOSES ITS VISCOSITY AFTER 700 TO 1000 KM OF RIDE. Use CASTROL or MOTUL engine oil and it should be strictly of 20W50 Grade as that is the recommendation in the manual

Change the Engine oil to Castrol Activ Xtra or any 20W50 grade oil. For the sound better to get your bike checked at the service center.

@sathyanarayanan89, Now coming to bajaj maintenance cost,Let me tell you the true story,Even i was looking to buy a UNICORN or Hunk but they were 65-70000.Unicorn has 2 months waiting period in HYD.Which Tom,Dick and Harry wants to wait for 2 months for a Motorcycle???? I am sure there are many..., But Luckily i am not one of them. My brother has a discover 135 which he purchased in 2006 Ending. So it is almost 4 years old. He just replaced the Head Bulb once and Break Shoe. That was around 500 Rs as bajaj Parts are cheap.. And some 2 Paid Services of 700 Each at Bajaj Service center that's it!!!!!! Total 1900 only So what u can make out of this? This was the Primary reason i went for Discover 150 as my brothers experience has been good with this one and i am sure mine will be too. I am sure there may be 1000's of Honda owners who spend a lot on maintenance of their spare parts. So mate, U cant predict anything. Who knows ur unicorn may become a rajdoot next year :) :). All the bestRead More

@sathyanarayanan89, Hey we have one more comment here. Let us see how mu ch this ''JUSTICE CHOUDHARY'' can take :) -MY UNICORN DAZZLER IS GIVING ME MORE THAN 55KM/L IN CITY AND 60KM/L IN HIGHWAYS. DISCOVER IS 12.5BH P BIKE AND DAZZLER IS 14BHP BIKE. Thambi, If your bike and my bike give the ...same mileage. What is the point of paying Rs 75000/- for same mileage.i save 25000 Extra -DISCOVER IS 12.5BHP BIKE AND DAZZLER IS 14BHP BIKE. Thambi, Ur info is wrong, Discover 150 is 13 BHP where as Unicorn in 13.5 BHP and both have the same torque. Good Heavens, 20000-25000 Extra for .5 BHP.You are the Diamond of India -DRIVE UNICORN, DAZZLER OR FZ(WITH MONO SUSPENSION) TO KNOW WHAT IS CORNERING. AFTER DRIVIG THOSE U WILL NOT PRAISE UR DISCOVER’S CORNERING ABILITY.Are you going to race in Melbourne Track??????? Thambi,I get the job done sweetly and beautifully. FZ seating feels like u are sitting in a Bathroom Comod Unicorn:-Obese and Overweight. Dazzler:-Same Engine,Same features, Just because of that 5-6000 Extra. -ONLY 5 MONTHS GONE. GIVE ME THE SAME UPDATE AFTER 5 YEARS LETS SEE. MY FREIND IS HAVING IS UNICORN FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS WITHOUT CHANGING ANY PARTS IN ENGINE. HE HAS CHANGED ONLY THE TYRES, BRAKESHOES, CLUTCH CABLE AND ENGINE OIL. I AM NOT AGAINST BAJAJ BUT FRANKLY I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM ANY BAJAJ OWNERS THAT THE MAINTANENCE COST IS LOW. Thambi, Dont worry da. Many things happen for the first time in life. But,ur friend had to change Tyres,Brakeshoe,Clutch cable and Engine oil. All this might have costed 3-4000 extra. Also it seems ur friend always rides at 15-20 KM/HR ka speed and that too on 2nd-3rd gear. Oh Oh oh that's why unicorns sound butter smooth as they are being ridden at 15-20 on 3rd gear. WOW BOSS CHEARS CHEARS CELEBRATE THAT THE SOUND IS SO SMOOTH AND MAINTENANCE COST IS VERY LOW. He he hehehehehe. Always ride at 80-90 then tell your story. I Always ride at 60-70 KM/HR and no issues so far. Who knows ur unicornRead More

So it is all a mixture of your choice,Fate,Brand,Amount and Little bit of luck. As far as i am concerned, i live in current as i dont have the ability and power to think about future. Your statement may be true or false. No one knows as even you or i not Re-incarnations of god. So The mor...al of the story is :- Past is history,Future is Mystery. Only thing which is crystal clear is current and it is very good for me and i am enjoying every bit of it. As far as Enthusiasts and Collectors are concerned. There is a very very Thin Line which divides them. Like, A collector may become an enthusiast or an Enthusiast may become a collector. When these people were fighting for identity, our own Vinod Kumar became a ''LAKHPATI''. So dude, All that matters is a ''Yash chopra film's type ka'' Happy ending. As both of us are happy with our own choice of products and continue to argue and defend each others choice, Both Bajaj and Yamaha are making millions per day based upon our curiosity. :) :) :) Read More

@racer_m, Ha ha ha Dude. U are superb. I have written and criticized so many people and products but i am really amazed by your resilience. You are the correct person for my headstrongness. But Yes i agree with you that Bajaj has or had the dirty habit of churning out non-sense bikes like Wind,...byk,XCD etc.But that is history. Now they have publically announced that they are going to stick to 2 Varities only i.e discover and Pulsar only. So we would be seeing a Pulsar 110 cc or 100cc or a discover 180cc or 220 cc in near future. But that is what they are expected to do as it is a business entity and not an NGO or a charity organization. All depends on us .i.e consumers whether we accept the product or reject it. Coming to brand varities, Even Hero Honda has produced so many varities which were massive failures like CD-Dawn,Joy,Achiever,Ambition,Super Splendor, glamour etc. Yamaha too had it's share in failure category. LML had to shut down it's factory as it incurred heavy losses All the above speech means that, Failure or success of any product depends on the number of people purchasing it. So in one manner the quality of the product is not a parameter here. For example, Splendor has minimum qualities of a good bike but still it was a success. A more relevant example is GOLMAL Movie series. All the three films were non-sense in every department but still all the films were super success whereas a master piece like swades was a disaster at the box office Anyways, yes you may be right that the same robustness might not be there after 5-6 years but who knows? We are forgetting current time and are thinking about the future. This was the primary reason i mentioned about the Gladiator incident in my main review. By that particular phrase i meant that when the bike is so problematic in first 10 km itself. What will be its state when it crosses 300-400 KM stage.Forget about 30000-40000 KM.Read More

@ I AM NOT THE TYPICAL CONSUMER , i mean i decided to cut loose from being Capitalist to Socialist :) Jokes Apart, I have always believed that there are somethings above money and they are memories(Both Good and Bad) and Sentiments. So I don't consider re-sale value as a factor. Use it as long ...as you can.Extract maximum out of it and never think about re-selling it. With this attitude i am sure that even TVS Centra will feel like a Bullet Thunderbird and u will be happy in life. Like i have mentioned that Fortunately or Unfortunately we are indians. Atleast i am fortunate that i am an indian. I don't know about other fellows. So whatever it is i dont know but day by day i am getting obsessed with my bike. :) :) :) :) And as per my regular catch phrase, These are my personal opinions and i have got every right to express them. If any one has any problem i am least bothered :) Read More

@racer_m , That was a good one,now below is my reply Do you remember that once upon a time there used to be vehicle named Lambretta or Lamby for short. That vehicle was a darling of masses in the Golden era of 1950's to 1970's.Having a Lambretta was like owning a Boeing 707 in those days. ... But time's have changed,Every day 50 models of motorcycles are coming and going. But some remain as milestones. Let me tell you a case of Vinod Kumar. A 70 year old man who stays in our locality and who unfortunately or Fortunately was never able to change his vehicle from Lamby to something else as he had sweet memories with that one. For example he and his wife used to roam in the same Lamby when they were Youngsters and they felt happy about it. Moreover he got that as a gift from his father in 1970's some time so he had that sentiment. But as many old age people he needed money for some personal issues. U will not belive that an antique collector paid 2 lakhs for that vehicle as the model is very rare piece to get outside and the Antique collector wanted the ''OLD PIECE OF CRAP'' at any cost. So The point is, Re-sale value is not the point to be considered while going for a motor vehicle (Even a car). Normally KABADIS will think about getting 2nd hand price and they will fight even for a meagre sum of 50 Rs. On the other hand there are BADA SAHEBS(Antique collectors) who will spend even 2 Lakhs for a PIECE OF CRAP. The point is i will give the vehicle for free to some one i know who is in the need of a vehicle instead of re-selling it. SO I AM NOT THE TYPICAL CONSUMER for you And I will keep on replying till the point people agree about BITTER BUT TRUE FACTSRead More

@racer_m . Thanks Mate. But i would like to tinker your facts about overweight UNICORN. My Dad has a 1992 model Bajaj Chetak which is still going strong at 35-40 KM/l and Almost no spare part replacement. (Once i rammed the scooter into an electric pole and the poor scooter required head light repla...cement, But that was around 8-9 Years ago when i was still in school and was competing with a Splendor Boy :D). Believe me, If you drive properly and take good care like servicing once in an Year ur vehicle will be in good shape. Resale Value ?? Do you purchase something and invest your hard earned money to re-sale it after say 3-4 or 5 Years?? Well i can guarantee that almost 60% of ''INDIAN JUNTA'' doesn't believe in this mantra. PULSAR,YAMAHA,UNICORN,SUZUKI,XTREME,EVEN HONDA ''SHAKE'' oops ''SHINE'' :) are heavy on ur pocket. whereas discover, even passion for that matter are light pocket. I don't count splendor as a bike it is more like an advanced MOPED :) :). So even going by ur statement, 50,000 for 2-3 Years is Absolutely Alright in the worst case Scenario. I Know Almost 15-20 people in our office who are still driving Bajaj Boxer CT and CT-100 and they are still happy with their bikes. i.e they have Maintained ''SUBSTANDARD'' bikes for over 5 Years. So the moral of the story is if u take proper care of your care like don't drive in Potholes, Apply breaks properly, etc etc u meet the Goal or else the Goal meets you? :0 Jokes Apart ONE MORE BITTER AND HARD HITTING FACT:_ FORTUNATELY OR UN FORTUNATELY WE ARE INDIANS AND BEING THAT THE '' HINDI KAHAWAT'' ''GHAR KI MURGI DAL BARABAR'' FITS 200% FOR US. 120% TIMES IT IS OUR BELIEF THAT INDIAN PRODUCTS ARE SUBSTANDARD AND FOREIGN COLLABORATIONS ARE TITANIUM -MADE. WITH THIS MIND-SET EVEN A TRIVIAL ISSUE IS MADE A MESS IN OUR MINDS. So, Ur statement may not hold good for everybody. Better luck next timeRead More

@Rup_007. Depends on ur opinion boss. I feel Jealous about the looks though. But being a 180 cc bike, it may suffer in terms of mileage and Driving comfort.I mean city rides where u need to Use the Clutch and Brake a lot and The roads in our country where built in ICE AGE so dont expect that you ...can drive your vehicle at 60-80 ka speed safely in our SO CALLED Metro cities. AND I DIDN'T TELL THAT TVS OWNERS ARE NUGGETS AS I DON'T HAVE ANY CLUE ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS AS NONE OF MY FRIENDS HAVE THEM. SO I FEEL YOU ARE NOT A NUGGET :D :) I feel that below points will help u analyze ur bike performance:- How old is ur bike and How is its performance in terms of pickup and mileage? How much maintenance does it require? What are the Technical Details of this one like Kerb Weight,Gear Shift Ratio,RPM,BHP etc? How Proper and Honest is the TVS After sales service? Enjoy the Apache man :) Read More
