Update November 2011 ------------------------------ The Punto has done 39393 kms and the Airconditioner doesn't work. The service engineer at Concord tells me the Airconditioner unit is leaking and is not covered under warranty and I have to shell out Rs. 18,000 + Labour + Taxes! I've rasied a tic...ket with Fiat. After spending 7 lakhs on the car two years back, I have additionally spent almost another lakh on repairs in two years. Pity that such low quality of components have gone into assembling the Punto.Read More

The service engineer told me that there are no more powerful headlamps for this car. I wish Fiat can address these issues and increase the peppyness of the car (As I write this, I Guess they have already done this). Inspite of all this I this car is value for money.

Update 1st May 2011 ------------------------------ The last one year I have taken the Grande Punto to several cities. In January 2011 while we were on the way to Yercaud we got a warning on the LCD display on the dashboard it read something like ''....do not proceed'' it was so brief I coiuldn't... read the first part of the sentence, so we took it to VST motors in Salem and they promptly discovered the problem to be that of low fluid levels (break etc) and had them topped up and didn't charge anything. I wish Fiat could someway make the warning message persist instead of merely scrolling past. On my way to Bangalore this past April I crossed 30106 kms and the car is about one and a half years old. We drove in heavy rains. My driver was complaining that the headlamps were not effective. On the highway while applying breaks we heard rattling noise and it got worse on our return and the noise was present even without applying the breaks. We took it for the mandatory service (because we crossed 30000kms) to Concorde Motors and had additional issues - Clutch being very hard - The rattling noise even when the breaks are not applied - Ineffective airconditioner - it takes 40 minutes to cool the cabin - Dim head lamps I have received the car after service and Fiat had replaced the clutch free of cost as per the warranty. The airconditioner, is more effective now but not as good as it should be in a tropical and humid climate like ours. As per the manual to switch on the Ac we'll need to press the ''Auto'' knob, If we operate the Ac this way the Climate Control doesn't work effectively and takes 30 - 40 minutes to cool. Its better to operate the ''on/off'' button. The breaks have lost their shoes and have milled a groove on the plates, for some reason this wasn't covered in the warranty nor the extended warranty (though I had this complaint within 3 months of purchasing the car). I have photographs of the plates, I wish I can post them here.Read More

@ris1294 Tried Concorde for my first service. They didn't treat me well. I am unable to post it here as it will invite unnecessary correspondence from them. @luv2drive See comment by @go4jagdish @dileepnv, Thanks for your comment. I am writing my experiences with Fiat and that includes all service...s providers associated with FIAT. BTW I feel that Maruti has an edge over most car makers when it comes to handling customer and ensuring customer satisfaction.Read More

In August 09 I wanted to replace my Esteem Vxi with a new car. Being very comfortable with Maruti Suzuki I thought I should buy the SX4 but then I wanted to check the other models that were available. I used Mouthshut to research and compare cars. The final contenders - Fiat Linea, Ford Fiesta, ...Read more
