I m using Dishtv from past 2 years. I dont hav tatasky at my hone but has xperienced it at my friend's house. So let me try 2 compare both of them.

both dishtv and tata-sky xperiences problem during rain(heavy rain)...but it generally last only 15-20minutes

still it is cheaper than tatasky........plus u save around Rs.1000 in this scheme
i dont feel dishtv is so bad as projected here....i am using dishtv from past 2yrs and i m really satisfied with it...i will give it 8/10....there were lots of problem with dishtv earlier but most of them hav been s...olved....mouthshut presents a completely wrong image of such a great product which has changed the way we used to watch TVRead More

i am also in favour of dishtv.
there is no doubt that it is better than cable. yes, i agree tatasky is better than dishtv in their customer service but the main reason behind this is that tatasky is new in market so it has a smaller customer base and it is easier to handle them. dishtv has been in ...the market from past 2-3 yrs naturally itz customer base is more.i am sure when tatasky's customers will increase they will also face these difficulties.
Dishtv is also cheaper than tatasky. its initial cost is aboutRs. 700-800 less than tatasky. Even monthly charges are also less. In dishtv you get choice of two packages costing 262 and 300(including all kind of taxes)
tatasky's rates are also Rs.300 but they are just introductor rates uptil feb.
thats why i go for dishtv because atleast you know how much you are going to be charged.

yes two channels of goal tv are available on dishtv at about Rs.25/mnth(Rs.20+taxes)

i think its the common problem. not only with dishtv(which is comparitively new company and not well established) but even with mobile companies(which are well established), we face such kinds of problem. they follow their own rule and don't care about their customesr. yes, with dishtv this problem ...is severe due to nil competiton(as arkhan has mentioned). moreover due to non-availability of some major package(star. sony, etc.) dishtv has not been able to establish itself. but as now both the reasons have become outdated so i hope that u, i and all of us will get better service in future
i think tatasky is also going to face the same problem-'bad after sale service' when their customers will increase and different packages will be implemented
so its better that oneself should be aware that which pachake he is opting for and waht are the channels he is going to getRead More

hey ajuravi first i must tell you that active feature for champions is going to be available only on dishtv, not on tatasky(acc to my knowledge)
there is no english movie on demand feature on dishtv
and i have mentioned about dishtv's service that they are improving.
1) they have decided to add... about 100 employees in their customer care department.
2) they are also improving their networking by a great deal and are expecting to increase their no. of dealers by 50%.
3)dishtv has recently established 25 service centres for repairing of set-top box through an agreement with HCL. dozens of more are going to be established in short while.
4)drop box facility has been introduced recently by dishtv for easy payment of subscription in more than 20 cities.
5)dishtv has launched their festive offer in which all new subscribers will get maxi channels at the cost of welcome package
these are some of the changes that are going to directly affect their subscribers. many big/small changes are also planned or has been initiated by dishtv too

i can't understand why everyone is so frustated with dishtv. i myself is a subscriber of it from nearly past two years and i had no problem with dishtv and even bought a second set just two months ago
i faced the same problem with my new set. it becomes dead. i just took my set to the service cen...tre(in delhi). they took that set and gave me a replacement at the same time. from next morning i was able to get all my channels without any hassle.

you should not be dependent on customer care service, it sucks.
just log in to www.dishtvindia.in and find out what you want
i agree that there rates are higher than those of cablewallas but its not too high. you get digital picture quality(alteast better than cable), over 100+ channels and a wh...ole lot of value added service in just about Rs100 more
and now with the entry of a second player these rates are surely going to fall.
so just be patient things are surely going to improve
by the way if you face any difficulty just take the name of CONSUMER COURT and see how quickly your work is done(telling you from experience)
