I am a kind of person who routinely changes mobile phones every 6 months. But for the last 18 months I am using I-mate Jammin and till date I dont have any major issues to change it. Yes there are both good points and bad points.
First the good points,
Basic functions of any mobile like call making, receiving a call, sms, mms, is not much different from any other phone but you would have to get used to the touch screen and my first thought is why cant they make it more simple but over a period of time I got used to it. Problems here is that the last dialled number is always on display and when you do not get connected to the number you have tried then it reverts back again and if you dial again it connects to the previous dialled number. There is no option to send multiple message at single touch by creating a group you wuld have to enter the names and numbers every time.
Camera sucks, you need to have bright light and should not shake while you take a snap. all moving objects snaps will be bad. Holding the camera button a little bit longer will help. But if taken properly the snaps are a treat. anyway camera in this mobile will never stand a chance of the mobile cameras available now.
Music Clarity and sound is good. 2.5mm jack so you cant connect the regular headphones. but there are converter jacks that can be connected to this and then to a 3.5mm port is available and helps. the headphones look cheap but are very sturdy and if you get pads for the ear piece it will be comfortable.
2gb card is supported without any problem. For playing media files windows player is good but more often than not it will not synchronize properly. I would suggest you to use TMPplayer or Pocket TV. and you can get loads of converter on line to change your media files for playing in these players.
Games on my last count some 600 games are available free online but it will take time to get adjusted to the touch screen mode of playing. If you play Age of Empires you will be amazed I am sure. The display is fantastic in this mobile and I should say better than most mobiles though its only 65k colour display.
Word, Excel is easy to use. Powerpoint are view only and cant be created on the mobile. But all the windows software can be used without any hitch. Adobe reader 2.0 is good and better than the Clearvue pdf reader, but remember to tag the files before you synchronize. All the files can be stored as a back up on your pc or laptop. Outlook is cool and very freindly to use. I have never had a problem with wifi connectivity though there are issues related to it.
It was not easy to understand all of this mobiles capability but once you get to it than you will enjoy using this mobile. Most people say bad things about this mobile because they dont understand most of it and they never read the manual and never sort for online help. The newer ones of this mobile in HTC has come with voice recognition and voice guidance software and I am still now trying to get in free online as its realy cool. The biggest letdown is the service very costly. nothing will cost you less than 3000. But luckily for me I got a service person in my hometown who can cut down the cost 6 to 7 times. Hopefully I dont think I will have to avail his services for another 1 year then we will see. Have fun.
