I got a i-mate JAM just 13 months ago. Overall the phone is ok, but I would recommend to go for latest Windows Mobile OS(preferrably Pocket PC variant and not smartphone if you want to use it for real business use . i.e. just like desktop!).

The things I like . some of them are Windows Mobile features I guess . fantastic sync with desktop . you can literally sync with anything(USB/bluetooth/IR whatever!). I also tried syncying account information from MS Money desktop and MS Money on pocket pc! Very good! It comes pre-loaded with Skype . it is not much of use with only bluetooth phone since we don't have 3G yet and GPRS speed sucks for audio. The phone pad functionality is the best thing that is available . I recollect Nokia took out a mobile with stylus but typing SMS has to be with stylus nothing else, really silly!

The things that I didn't like much . 64MB RAM/ROM whatever(now a days I believe there is a 128MB version . too bad a little early I was in buying such a mobile). if I wanted to run a serious app or couple apps like Skype/MS Money pocket pc . the machine litterally reminded me of my 486 desktop with WIn 95. The phone is not robust like Nokia used to be . I recollect my Nokia 7110 fell on road and I just reassembled it to run as before . but after my JAM was toyed by my son once, its speaker went off . when I got it replaced, the phone gets reset every two days randomly. The thing bad about i-mate or probably Windows Mobile 2003 is that if battery goes out/there is error in circuitry the phone gets brain washed(it literally comes to the screen calibration mode!) . well because active sync and backup recover everything within 5 mins(I have never got such a sync with any other mobile software!) I don't feel that much pinch . but its not that good to loose all data if you ran out of battery/there is problem with some circuit. I MISS WIFI SO MUCH . I have got wifi router fitted at my home . my office has wifi . BUT I CAN'T use it:-( The camera in JAM is I guess a formality . it doesn't compare with Nokia/Ericsson. The speaker is not that loud.

Other point which I didn't like that much is resell cost. I bought JAM for 30k . and just after 8 months I said this is not sufficient and went back to dealer, he offered only 8k for the phone:-( Well, but that's with all the phones these days.

At the time of buying I was debating about K-JAM and I wonder if it was a better bet for a person like me who want to try all the softwares I can!

Now I am looking forward to a phone with Windows Mobile 2006/2007 which is suppose to come out/is already out.
