The I-mate JAQ is the kind of phone I was looking for. I wanted a PDA phone but insisted that it should not have a Camera. I also wanted that it uses windows mobile and has a keyboard (so that the user is not totally dependent on the stylus). The JAQ has all these features. The absence of the camera makes it cheaper.
The only feature I wanted that it doesn't have is wi-fi. The phone I wanted should have been able to syncronise with my Laptop especially microsoft outlook. I use this software for planning my schedule and tasks. Even the address and phone numbers of my contacts are stored there.
I also receive all my mails there. I wanted a PDA which could give all these facilities and talk to my laptop. The I-mate JAQ can do all that.
The only problem is that it has to be connected via a cable to do this. If it had wi-fi that would have made syncronising with my laptop easy. The other drawback is it is bulky. Some of the newer phones with similar features look smarter. But they are not exactly suited to my need. Either they do not use windows mobile - meaning synchronising with outlook may create a problem or they have camera - which I do not want. The best aspect is, it is cheaper than some of the other phones which gives these features.
Addition 1: After this write up, the phone developed a problem - it won't charge. I found out that there is an ac frequency issue. The company has promised to provide me with a better charger. If that happens, I will keep you posted. Meanwhile, I have an ingenious solution for those who suffer from the same problem. Do not allow the charge to go below 50%. Recharge as soon as it touches 50%. The service centre did also upgrade the OS. Now that has made a huge difference to the sound quality and speed.
