Just the other day, Mayunk was cribbing that we haven’t tried any new restaurant in ages. The foodie (foodie is still not a dictionary word?? Hmmm) in us was craving for a new place, new taste and that cool ambience. Heard an ad on radio for a restaurant named Zync Lounge Café, near Safina Plaza, Bangalore. It sounded like an interesting place with cuisine from all over the world, Indian, oriental, continental, Mexican… you name it and they claimed to have a taste of all.

One day, both of us managed to leave from work on time and didn’t feel like going home. Especially in no mood to go home and indulge in self inflicted home made culinary delights / disasters! Mayunk said “730? Isn’t it kinda early for dinner?” I said how does it matter? “Bhookh toh lagi hi hai, toh yaa snacks khaale ya dinner. Please chalo naah!” The husband finally gave in and off we went to checkout Zync – The Lounge Café.

As we reached the place, we were confused whether it had become fully functional ‘coz people were just ambling by and it was empty (which was ok since it was too early for dinner crowd to walk in). We enquired and he said yes, its open and they will give us food! Good! I said rubbing my hands in anticipation of a nice meal. I think good food is the quickest way to happiness, isn’t it?

Zync is a huge old time house converted into a boutique restaurant. This means that they have a small boutique that sells everything from paintings to antiques to cloth and around it is the dining arrangement.

We walked through a small pebbled street effect passage, which also has seating arrangement to the centre which under a tall wooden ceiling houses rest of the tables. The initial impressions are great! The chairs are big and white with classy glass top tables giving the open air restaurant a resplendent look.

We took a nice table close to the trees and got comfortable in the cozy ambience. The menu card with a blue in white theme is attractive and clearly laid out. And true to its word, every popular cuisine in the world was there – from the starters to the main course and desserts. We started with a couple of mocktails which were really good. Their combos were different and with a nice effect. The cheese based starter was yummy and we were off to a good start!

For the main course, I had yummy fish in potato coating and butter sauce and hubby had a neat sizzler. The next time, I went with my ma-in-law, I had their Spanish Paella, which was rice with fish. It was okay, only that the fish taste got overpowering at times. Ma-in-laws Paneer Shaslik was really nice.

We are yet to try their desserts and desi khaana. Haven’t tried their Mexican too and look forward to doing it.

They have an open kitchen and you feel better when you eat after seeing the sparkling clean kitchen and vessels. The service is quick and efficient. A meal for two including a mocktail, a starter and main course will set you back by little over 600bucks. But the whole experience makes it quite worth it. It’s a great place for the cozy twosome, with your pals and family too. They have a palette to please every taste. The exact location is Hospital Road. But more easily found as its right next to Subway, in the lane next to Safina Plaza.

Must try is the mocktail with coconut milk! A diehard coconut hater like my hubby couldn’t stop drooling!

Go on, taste the world on your fingertips… or the spoon… the fork… whatever!
