It is not very often that we get to see a movie so hard hitting and rivetting than the one directed by ''copy cat'' Sanjay Gupta's Zinda.

Zinda is ''inspired'' from the Korean Cult Classic ''Old Boy''.

But what makes it a compelling film is the tight screen play and the use of the black shade through out the film.

Its polish is slick Hollywood style and had it dubbed in English, people would not have had any doubt that they were watching a thriller straight from Firang Land.

The use of expletives has shown that the censors have dealt with Zinda maturely.

They are an integral part of the film and deleting them would mean a deletion of a certain essence from the film.

The background score is good and the Strings rendered '' Yeh Hain Meri Kahani'' is one of the best tracks I have heard in recent times.

Now for the performances.

The girls Celina Jaitley and Lara Dutta were the glamour dolls.

Mahesh Manjrekar was his usual self and John Abraham, in his glorified extra role as a multi millionaire based in Bangkok was good.

But Zinda is an all and out ''One Man Film''.

It is just one character that occupies the screen from the start to the finish of the film.

It is one man through whom we see a gamut of expressions and pain.

This is Sanjay Dutt's film and he does wonders to the role.

It seems that Sanjay Gupta had etched the role only with Dutt in mind as no one else would have been able to do justice to it.

The story is unique and I would like my MS friends to watch it.

The film is a mixture of art and commercial aspect.

And Bollywood is certainly coming of age.

I would justify the 4 star rating that The Times Of India, Mumbai Edition, gave Zinda on review.

This is a film which does show a good deal of brutality but its blended well.

I would certainly recommend the film.

As for the flaws I didnt really find any.

It may be dubbed a bit slow at times.

The best scenes in the film is the Sanjay Dutt Hammer fight in Bangkok, where after the fight, he flops like a dog.

The fight looked very genuine.

Another scene was the one where he plucks one teeth after another of teh person who tortures him.

Friends, Go and Watch ''Zinda''.

Witness Bollywood come of Age.

(And for trivia, Zinda had been declared the first Hit of 2006, mainly for those who go to watch the ''hit'' films only)
