We have been to zest big beach resort puducherry on 14/02/09 for one night stay we checked in at around 2.30 on 14.02.09 and stayed in room no. 233 and 234 (located side by side) and was charged 12000 Rs (including complimentary breakfast and valentine special dinner which was 1500 per couple).
The ambiance was ok 2 beds (one proper bed and one sofa cum bed) with lot of pillows, one grand pa chair, one lcd tv, one small fridge (empty) and one world space radio (which got replaced at around 10.30 in room 233 as it was not working). the floor had no tiles and was made from pure concrete and same goes for bathroom.
In house accessories provided were also weak as no dental kit was provided in any of the room (called operator and was told sir its chargeable basis and local not branded), no shampoo, one shower cap, shower gel and liquid soap for hand wash ( which was missing from room no. 234 and they were clueless till the end).
The facility has no water softening plant as one expect from such big resorts. the water was hard and muddy in color. There is no room service at all, to get a water bottle one has to walk almost 500 meter (at least from our room) in the middle of night which was kinda ridiculous.
Well that was all about room and room service.The place is huge and I guess the property is not fully developed. one can see movie posters posted on one of the wall at reception which kinda didnt get our approval for a well maintained resort (goa resort rocks).
Lot of recreational activities like half basket ball court, small football ground, paint ball fight arena (very expensive), pool, many board games, movie room (which is again free), xbox 360 (chargable), bicycle (for out doot only and cannot be used inside the resort goa people allows :P) and many more.
Majority of side tours are chargeable and are quite expensive. Now comes the bummer why this review get so low ranking. The thing started when we checked in whenever we order/ate we saw cauliflower (which I guess was there as its cheap).
We ordered pakoras and some sandwiches as lunch was over when we checked in. we got mix veg pakoras out of 4 different varities 2 were made from cauliflower couldn't eat. anyhow we were left hungry as food quality specially veg food was not at all great (we all are veg and non drinkers). a
As the management mentioned there is gala dinner (which was at extra charge of 1500 per couple) valentine day special dinner with good spread of food and wine. we thought it will fun and decided to go there. We got all dressed up and reached the venue which was near sea for gala dinner ordered veg starters and asked we don't drink wine can you serve soft drinks (the guy told us sir wine is complementary but soft drinks are charged to your room) we were like shocked is wine cheaper or soft drink wonder what management was thinking.
We ordered normal water as soft drinks were charged almost 3-4 times the actual price. there came our starters wondering what it is we looked in its was paneer tikka (the paneer was as hard as it can be with no masala at all) and tandoori gobi (cauliflower) we were like wtf.... fine we couldnt eat at all as the food quality sucked.
We ate like 2 panner pieces each and thats about it.... mind that non vegetarians had almost 4-5 different varities of starters..Then they started the main course wondering what they are offering we attacked the place as hunger was calling us since morning.... to our disappointment the main course had ....
Any guess guys.... well alu gobi ki sabziii, paneer ki sabziiii (we just ate few in starters), thai vegitable (which we were not willing to eat as it was smelling horribly)...... rice with no daal... which kinda ruined our entire day and freaking entire night.... one of the worse valentine day ever.... we paid for it and never enjoyed it..... which kinda make me feel being ripped ofF..
Only thing that cheered us were the company of our spouses. I have been to mahindera resorts in goa (which was a great experience so decided to go to zest puducherry which was a major dissappointment).... I will never recommend people to stay here.
