Still my Favourite Footballer. Review on Zenidine Zidane

Who is Zenidine?

a) The Bull who gored Materrazzi.

b) The man who was wronged & thus took revenge

c) The great football legend.

Well, for me it will and always has been option c, and whatever the world say its not gonna change. Okay, I admit provocation is the part of a game, but come on how many times we have ourselves given our provocators a black eye when they said something about our families?

Dunno about anybody else, but I have. And I bet so would have anybody else in their childhood or even when adults. So if all have done so, why cant they understand this too, thinking he too is in one 'those' states when everybody will get excited enough not to think whether it is only you and your nemesis, or only the class's girls who were looking when you were being insulted or the whole world when you are doing it.

Yes, it is indecent to do like that. But isn't it more indecent in part of Materazzi to utter such sentences? But at the end of the day who got the card? Our Z !!!

The Inspiration

I am not a great footballer, not even that good enough. Scored a few goals thats allright but thats the end of it. I too play in the mid-field. When I was in 5th or 6th standard I didnt used to have any favourite position, but the guy who told me where shall I play was Z. I remember when I saw his first dribbling [wasnt the best, but was the most impactful]. That kind of dribbling made me think that hey, what place that guy plays in? And who's that ? Then when I got those answers I used to fight for the centre midfield. Used to think that i'd do that trick today.

Then slowly I started to copy that move, always used to fall and cut my knees but all the same. To tell the truth, even now i'm unable to do it....haha. Anyways, that is what the impact the guy Z had on me.

World Cup 2006

For World-Cup 2006 my favorite was Germany. Their discipline and team work enthralls me much. You wont see any 1 ronaldo or any 1 pele there. They work as one big giant, the whole team. One part malfunctions, the other takes over. That makes them consistent, that makes them successful. But when they lost, my second favorite was france. Obvious reason, Z.

I even took a trip from one city to the other just to watch the final with my friends, we were too excited all the time. Those headers that beamed towards the goal.... terrific BP I had. I felt as if some how Zenidine ends his carrier hitting the net.

Hit he Did

And there he was. He actually did hit something, an obnoxious Materazzi.... that was the end of his carrier and my enthusiasm too. Rest of the match we were not watching the game much, but discussing "what happened man?"...."That's too bad"...."Guys please dont replay!!!".

The next day newspapers shouted against him. People saying Zidane did this, he should have done that. I just want to ask them, what would have they done?

Just the case I stated earlier, what would have they done if they themselves were there and somebody had said against them? Wouldn't they have hit their insulter back? If nobody is watching. 70% would say yes. Then I just want to know if someone watches you doing this, would you not do that? If they say No, I would ask them, Hey buddy you are not true to yourself all the time, If you put in morals, they should be universal. They shouldn't change just because somebody is watching or not.

So I dont hold him responsible for what he did. If he didnt put up a good display of self-control then I would say, why then Materazzi get the ribbon when Zidane didnt around his neck. I wouldnt distinguish between the two now. As both had wronged according to FIFA, both should have been barred from getting the medals. Not that one is sitting in the dressing room while the other frolicks.

Ok then !! That would be all. An unfortunate event for the great legend. For me I still cherish his game. And it is he who made me wonder, is scoring goals the only glamorous and cherishing moment?

I got the answer after so long.....No scoring a goal is not that great enough for me, I have done many.....But that first dribble still remains unachievable. Someday somewhere I would do it I know, whether somebody will see me doing it or not I dont know. But I will smile and say thanks to zidane who made me so enchanted, and thus taught me the trick what I would someday learn........all with just the television screen only.....
