World cup final 2006 --- the game was getting really hot so were the players,it was 109th minute of match when french captain Zenidine Zidane was grabbed by Materazzi of Italy. He did or said something to Zidane and he turned and rammed his head into Materazzi's chest.....it was really firm and left Italian bouncing in the air.
After reading above passage anybody will find Zidane guity, but this only one side of the coin what was the reason behind this is still obscure. I have few points, which may be useful to find the reasons (and actually will help maestro to lessen this pain a bit)
- Zidane has played 3 world cups,has anything of this kind happened ever before? In my knowledge ppl call him a very stoic and composed person,he is known for his cool head and has shown his maturity ever since he is there in french team.
2.It was world cup final and chances were more Italy because of their previous performances in this world cup.But that day was different and French were too good, there attack had really broken Italian defense many times.
So there was a good chance of winning for France.
At that time match was 1-1 and setting up for penalty shoot outs, having Henry, Vieira, Ribery already out of the ground there was only Zidane who could have made the difference.
- This is my personal opinion and may be a biased one but I saw Italians playing a foul game in that match many a times but there was nothing referee could do about it because they are masters in cheating, atleast one foul I can still recall which should have been given as a penalty kick but referee didn’t even notice it.
4.There is a real need of change of football rules specially rules for foul play. A third empire (as in cricket) should have more rights and say in taking actions against the fouls.
It may reduce the flow of the game but it may change football forever and may be after 2 years of its implementation we might not need it.
Another thing can be done as they did with Rooney (England); FIFA has given him ban from 2 matches and some fine and all this days after the actual match. Why can’t this be done with all the fouls happened in a match? a proper tracking of fouls for everyone and then warning and may be red or yellow cards also….
All this will make soccer a fouls free game.
At last I just wish FIFA could find the real reasons behind Zidane’s act, may be some lip reader help us in this. And I want all of us to raise our voices to turn this game a fair game.
