Bold?? not at all. Review on Zeher

I watched zeher on VCD, unfortunately I didnt have the time to see it at a theatre as I was too busy in singapore!

zeher is the story of a cop (emraan hashmi) , and his wife (shamita shetty) set in the backdrop of goa. emraan is very possesive and egoistic and a angry hot blooded typical indian male and loves to shout, scream and catch gangsters and do his job.

he also expects that his wife behave like a typical indian wife, caring for his husband and not to pay much attention to her career. but shamita is in no way interested in staying at home and waiting for his husband to arrive and then spare some time for her. all things said and done, they still do love each other.

the story changes as emraan catches a drug smuggler, and a lot of cash which is in his custody. he gets famous as a supercop. in the meanwhile shamita is pregnant but aborts her baby coz she wants to persue her career and not be just a simple housewife. emraan gets mad about the news of the abortion and throws shamita out of his house.

the frustrated emraan hashmi meets udita goswami stranded on a lonely street at night and offers to drop her home. and then in the usual style they get involved and make love and blah blah and blah. emraan later finds out that udita is the wife of some drunkard who abuses his wife on a regular basis. in the meanwhile emraan and udita make love as often as they can while her husband is not in town!

the plot twists as udita one day tells emraan that she is pregnant, and takes him to the doctor, who then says that she also has cancer. emraan is now concered and says he will do whatever that can be done to treat her. and then he tells udita to leave town with him and brings the money in his police station illegally so that he can use it for udita's treatment and gives it to her.

sadly on the night that emraan is to meet udita, her house catches fire and both udita and her husband are believed to have died.

then comes the twist, when there is an enquiry that is headed by shamita shetty, his ex-wife and now emraan doesnt want shamita to know about his relationship so he does everything he can to erase the evidence and prove that he had nothing to do with udita. they get into the process of investigation and then when everything seems to be going in emraan's favour, some cop wants the money back! but emraan doesnt have it since udita has been burnt with the money. on top of it shamita now begins to get suspicious about his relationship with udita !

well... I cant reveal the climax ! you'll have to go and watch the movie.

in all, the film moves at a pretty decent pace. emraan needs to improve his acting, so does shamita but since the plot is good so the acting deficit is easily covered by the good script. udita is supposed to be a dumb seductress and thats what she does, though her dialogues are believed to have been dubbed by someone else.

the music is pretty good and the songs are great that fit well with the script ! the cinematography is also pretty good. in all the complete package does not disappoint, till the very end !

to put it short, zeher is not at all a bold movie. just that there are a few scenes that you may not want to watch with your family, but keeping that aside it can be called a decent thriller! the songs are good and the script is the biggest USP of the film.
