Dear Zayed,

Read this letter. You can burn it, bury it, cherish it or eat if you wish afterwards. But be sure to read it :P You could say I’ve taken all my affection for you and put in into words. This had to be a special letter… It may be the very last one I’m writing to you.

So where should I begin? The beginning seems a good place to start. You made your film debut in Chura Liya Hai Tumne, whose title song shot in the sand was superb. Love at first sight happened when I saw you romancing on a beach (on tv), looking dusty yet so gorgeous. But the girl wasn’t me! It was Esha Deol, her clothes looking equally tattered and torn. I watched the movie for my birthday (what a planned coincidence!)…it was interesting, full of twists and turns. But the highlight of the flick was definitely you, with your mysterious secret agent looks and total filmi dishum-dishum tactics at the end! Who were you actually playing? Vijay Chouhan? Or Prakash Yogi? Or Vishal Malhotra? That left me confused, but one thing I sure wasn’t confused about was that paiso ke saath saath tumne kitne dilo ko bhi churaaya ;) But just remember – girls were the best, are the best and will always be the best!!

As I found a new object of desire, the media found a new topic of gossip. I guess the fact that you are the son of Sanjay and Zarine Khan didn’t help much (I’ve heard that champagne was uncorked for the first time in Breech Candy Hospital when you were born)! Oh did I mention that you are also the nephew of Firoz Khan, cousin of Fardeen Khan and brother of Suzanne Roshan? And there you were wondering why the journos were picking on you…The first thing they did was to pair you up with Esha Deol ( what the hell were they thinking???). Is that why the first thing you said in your first interview was that you had a girlfriend?

The fame struck in the form of Farah Khan’s debut film – Main Hoon Na. You played Lakshman Prasaad Sharma aka Lucky with such ease. It was an amazing role, and it was pure genius of Farah to pick you for it. You made us laugh (was that Kung-fu you were attempting?) and you made us cry (not only because you were paired opposite Amrita Rao :P). This was the point where you showed that you were a versatile actor and made your mark in Bollywood. The long hair style was cool…but thank Bhaggu that you cut it before the film ended! You also got to work with His Royal Highness SRK and the beautiful Sushmita Sen. Lucky to tumhaare liye bahut lucky nikla!

But after that people only seemed to see you in one way - Flirt Alert! I can’t see why. No, actually I can see why! That look in your eyes and that incomparable style and that perfect physique and that crowd of girls around you may could be some of the answers. Take me for example – I wouldn’t tell just any guy that I wish I could soak up all brightness in his sun-drenched smile ;)

That leads me on to the kind of role you got in your next film Shabd. Does anyone remember that one? Well, it’s hard to forget, considering it had Aishwaria Rai in it! What made you want to work with her? Apart from the fact that she is extremely pretty and internationally acknowledged…it looked good on your repertoire! I have to say, I would never have watched that film if it didn’t have you in it. Who was your character…Yash I think his name was. The younger guy falling for the older married woman. Flop alert! After that you did another random movie called Vaada, with Amisha Patel and Arjun Rampal. I seriously have nothing more to say about that movie, so I’ll leave it at that and move swiftly on.

hey now hey now, everybody put your hands up in the air! After those indescribable movies along came Dus with a bang! I was going to write dus bahaane on why to love you, but why does love need a reason :P? Just hope you have forgiven me for the Dus Album review fiasco…

You and Abhishek defined “ultimate cool” when you were both up there singing that gorgeous song! If only they didn’t have the glimpses of Diya Mirza in the promos…I didn’t actually watch the movie (sorry!), but I heard the story from a friend. She was sadly telling me how you and AB were taking a bomb and it exploded or something at the end. I was really upset and I said to her “why did they have to make Zayed die???”. And she said “he didn’t die, Abhishek did.” So, naturally I smiled and said “that’s alright then!” Except I don’t think it was alright, coz she gave me an evil look… ;)

Lots more films are on your plate now…just hope they all taste good! Firstly we have Shaadi No.1 with Fardeen Khan, Sharmaan Joshi, Ayesha Takia, Esha Deol and Soha Ali Khan. Frankly speaking, you resemble a Dalmation in that shirt. Give me the number of that costume designer, and I’ll sort him out! Then there’s Fight Club, scheduled for release next year with Farah Khan’s next venture - Happy New Year. Hope you do have a great year with those movies!

And now your getting married to a certain Malaika Parekh (we know she’s been part of her life for the last 10 years, but could she ever write a letter like this??)! Sorry but I had to send back the wedding invitation. I’m extremely busy on the 20th November ( and I don’t think I could handle seeing you become someone else’s)…

So I guess we were never meant to be. I’m going to let go of you, because you were never mine in the first place. Life moves on…and now I can’t find a decent pen to cross off your name from my eligible bachelors list!

Best of luck for the future and hope your wedding will be filled with love (not to mention the designer clothes and posh hotels and lots more champagne)!

Yours longingly,

Ashi :)
