I wonder how some celebrities lend their name very easily without ensuring the product they endorse deliver the promised value to their consumers. ZK's I understand is a restaurant run by his relative (Uncle). Zaheer Khan's name was the primary reason that made me try out this place. We had guest from Goa and so we zeroed in to ZK's to dine one fine late evening.
The ambience is O.K. although a little loud (red) for a family setting. The flamboyance may suit the hip-hop youth, but not an environment where grandma's and grandpa's will feel relaxed. If the target group they are looking for is well-defined then I have no argument on their business sense.
The reason that got us there, to enjoy a sumptuous meal that put us off. We ordered for Rogan Gosht and Bunna Gosht and we found no difference between the two. Infact, the base (curry) was extremely salty (Salt is a good preservative and can camouflage stale food flavor). When we asked for the Chef, we were told by the manager that the Chef has a day off!. He informed us that the curry is prepared and kept and that they add the Gosht/Chicken heat up and serve. (That's what he learnt in the hospitality school).
The starters (kebabs) were good, but for the french fries! somebody given them a lesson on how french fries look like, you get finger chips. And the cost of alcoholic beverage is definitely on the higher side.
Service time was ok (considering the curry base is always ready ;) and God knows how many days old), They lack dining etiquettes, simple things like the Lady/Elderly should be served first is not observed. You can expect their arm hovering over you to reach out and serve other members on the table.
I feel for the price they charge they should ensure that their waiting staff now the basic of hospitality.
Zaheer Khan may never hear this story...he doesn't know whats cooking ;)
