Subhash Ghai set a lot of expectations with his movies that he made earlier, Vishwanath, Karz, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, Taal were all good and then came his classic era of Trimurti, Yaadein and Kissna. This time around he has made YUVVRAAJ, let's see with this one adds to the likes of Karz or to the likes of Trimurti.
YUVVRAAJ is the story of 3 brothers, Gyanesh Yuvvraaj, Deven Yuvvraaj and Danny Yuvvraaj. Three of them have thier own differences and Deven Stays away from home cuz his father chucked him away. He aspires to become a lead singer and wants to marry Anushka ( Katrina No-acting Kaif ). Boman Irani who is Anushka's father is against him as he considers Deven a Sore loser. One day Deven comes to know about the death of his father and then goes on to London to claim him part of the property and just then enters a deal with Boman that he will be a billionaire in 40 days, esle Boman can marry Katrina to who ever he wants. As Luck would do, deven is only blessed with 5 crores and so is danny. The rest goes to Gyanesh. Deven and Danny try to get Gyanesh write the property to them. Note that Gyanesh is a mentally weak person.
In this process both Deven and Danny have a change of heart and fight out the real enemies. LOL LOL LOL
And like any 90s hindi film, good wins over the evil.
Direction : In Subhash Ghai's English, HAHAHAHHA can someone tell mr The Subhash The Ghai that the direction is not the all about the Sets and the Locales and it that the more to do with the treatment of the content you present. The first of the All is that the movie's content wouldnt have the worked even if the movie was the set in 1990s. Absolutely Pathetic Direction. 1/5.
Performances:
Salman Khan does well in a role Not so Tailor made ofr his style but he is just too good in the dramatic scenes.
Zated Khan is average. Though he is improving with every film.
Katrina Kaif - She does act as usual, but doesnt look good either this time.
Anil Kapoor is good but nothing in his league. Just about ok.
Music : AR Rehman has certainly lost his touch. Apart from an Avg song "Meri Dost", nothing actually get's working. Even the background score dissapoints.
Overall - The movie is a big let down. The movie is so slow at certain times that I felt I am watching a test Match between Nepal and Burma. The movei just drags on and on and on. After a long time I watched a movie in 7 installments. Such was the aura of the movie. It's good for insomnic people. Watch this and you wont need sleeping pills for atleast a month for sure.
At last in Subhash Ghai's style - The Ghai Sahab, your the kissna was the better movie than the Yuvvraaj.
