Subhash uncle gave us the not-so-wonderful Yaadein and backed it up with an even more not-so-wonderful Kisna. Kudos! He’s got a hattrick! Yuvvraaj scores in the same league.

Arre Subhash uncle picture banani hai toh banao lekin style ke saath substance bhi daalo. Yeh toh cheating hui, ki itni badi starcast aur itne bade sets aur dance sequences leke bhi itni bakwaas film banayi. Not fair. :(

Alright…..my vocab of the Rashtriya bhasha is exhausted. Lets get to the point. Yuvvraaj is a bad film. Period. Utter non-sense.

All we have is a gheesa-peeta story of multiple family members fighting over some monstrous property and suddenly in the end some of them become good boys. Gosh! Its like done dime and dozen and over again.

Getting down to acting…..Salman hammed all the way to the end. Excellent if that was Subhash uncle’s vision, and really sad if it was not. He gets angry at the drop of a hat and then achanak he’s all cool and calm and quite. Kya hua? Gussa bhaag gaya? Zayed Khan. Forget it. Never could act, never will. Pathetic dialogue delivery, stiff body language and useless eye contact. The scene where he breaks down in the middle of the road and starts yelling.

Perhaps one of the worst i’ve seen in a really long time. Anil Kapoor always talented even in such a weak script. Brilliant is not the word…..be it fear, anger, love, innocence….you name it. Excellent performance…… he really put life into Gyanesh. Katrina Kaif was alright……looked alluring but stiff as always and should really stop batting her lashes so much….I don’t think anyone’s eyes can be so dusty. Boman Irani and Mithun Chakraborthy were just fine.

Technicals is what Yuvvraaj banks on heavily. Brilliant locations in Prague and Austria captured wonderfully by Kabir Lal. Even the songs have been shot really well, specially ‘Mastam Mastam’ and the climax song. A.R.Rahman seldom goes totally wrong, though its not his best, Yuvvraaj does have music that connects in parts.

On of the best things to watch in Yuvvraaj is dance sequences. They’re huge, they’re grand and they’re beautifully synchronised. Three cheers to Ahmed Khan and Shiamak Davar for the same.

Yuvvraaj fails primarily in the scripting, screenplay and direction. The script is stale, the screenplay unreal and Subhash uncle got it all wrong while directing this family tale.

I’d recommend, don’t waste too much money on this one. Watch it for superior dance sequences, good music and lovely cinematography. Anything else and you’re watching the wrong film.
