To talk about yuvi I must confess I have never seen a cricketer like yuvi who hits the ball so sweetly and powerfully. Normally a cricketer hits the ball hardly like viru or time the ball sweetly like laxman but yuvi possess such an extraordinary talent of timing and hard hitting of the ball simultaneously and above all the placing of the short between the fielders is awesome.
I remember when Pakistan toured India 2-3 years back where inzy was the captain, yuvi was batting superbly at that point . Inzy has placed two fielders where one at short extracover and short long off. The gap between the fielders was so marginal that even a rat cannot come through. But yuvi constantly pierced the gap so beautifully with such awesome strokes that even inzy was in shock that how yuvi can pierce that marginal gap.
I remember the t20 world cup which India has won where yuvi performed extraordinary against australia England. Everybody rememeber yuvi hitting six sixes in an over but very few people remember one six which he hit breet le over fine leg. That six covered 119 mtrs which nobody has broken the record till today. Only a talent like yuvi can hit such a long and breathtaking six. you need power as well as timing to hit such a long six.
As far as yuvi being a test cricketer i don't think yuvi has got such a talent of test cricket. I m saying this because I have observed him closely that he doesn't have the temperament of leaving the ball consistently outside the off stump he is not sure about the off stump. He regularly pokes with the ball outside the off stump. U have to have the talent of hitting the right ball in test cricket. I know many people would disagree with me that he has scored centuries in test cricket at position 5.But I feel that a great test cricketer performs in bowler friendly condition . He has scored all the centuries in subcontinent where the ball carries most of the time in the second bounce to the wicket keeper and where the pitches are batting friendly. In Australia when India tours later Yuvi performed very poorly, he doesn't looks nice when he was batting there, and where the standard of bowling is very good specially when brett lee was bowling to him with a supportive wicket of batting as well as bowling.
That the main reason why I consider rahul dravid a great test cricketer and yuvi a great one day and t20 cricketer. I m not that kind of supporter that praises a cricketer every time , when I feel that a cricketer is not performing well I criticize him also. Similarly I have criticize rahul dravid also in my review Rahul dravid "a gem forgiven" in spite of liking him so much like yuvi.
