INDIAN TEAM has started to look stronger and stronger and quite unbeatable(if I may say so)in this WORLD CUP.And the credit for that can be given to the inclusion of young players in the team......who seem to have brushed a certain amount of aggression and youthfulness on the senior players as well.Players like KAIF,SEHWAG,ZAHEER KHAN,NEHRA have been great but for me the find for the INDIAN TEAM has been YUVRAJ SINGH.This 21 year old lad from CHANDIGARH is an outstanding cricketer and a fighter to the core.He can BAT,BOWL and FIELD.......and is the perfect all-rounder INDIAN TEAM was looking for.
AS A BATSMAN~~~~~~~He is a very talented LEFT-HANDED batsman and a natural striker of the ball,his timing is exquisite and he is one batsman who can be devastating in the death overs,a la JADEJA.And what makes YUVI stand out from the rest is his ability to stay at the wickets in tense\pressure situations.Infact I feel that he playes the best under pressure.....which very few INDIAN players do.His innings V AUSTRALIA at Nairobi,the NATWEST FINALS in ENGLAND,and now in the matches against PAKISTAN,ENGLAND,KENYA.....were simply great and a proof of not only his batting skills but also that he doesn't give away his wicket in pressure situations.There is a sense of comfort and security when he goes out to play.His running btw the wickets is electric.....so there is no possibility of him being run-out.The only flaw that he has is that he sometimes tend to get impatient coz he is an aggressive batsman and likes the ball to come to the bat.....so if a bowler can frustrate him by bowling a tight line he can give away his wicket.
YUVRAJ is a very cool and calm customer,otherwise......he seems to have a good temperament and has a positive attitude when playing......and that is what makes him a bright future prospect for INDIA.I really love watching him play coz he is soooo exciting to watch.....
AS A FIELDER~~~Well he is an outstanding fielder.....he is argualbly one of the best fielders in the INDIAN side.He makes the game so thrilling and exciting with his efforts on the field.....the way he throughs himself,the way he takes catches is a sight to be seen.I reaLLY admire his commitment on the field......and he inspires the other members of the team to be on their feat and be alert.He along with KAIF has won respect for the INDIAN TEAM.....which was considered a very poor fielding side.His catches in the ICC TROPHY against SOUTH AFRICA were two of the most unbeleivable catches I have seen in world cricket.He is definately the HERCHELL GIBBS of the INDIAN TEAM......(coz KAIF is JONTY RHODES).
AS A BOWLER~~~YUVI can be a very handy bowler too......and is capable of picking up wickets at crucial stages.Though I think GANGULY should use him more often as a bowler.....
Along with all his cricketing abilities,what also works in his favour is his clean good looks......i was fortunate to catch a glimpse of YUVRAJ in Chandigarh during the MOHALI test,and he looked darn-good.
YUVRAJ has been a great addition to the INDIAN TEAM......after winning the under-ninteen WORLD CUP,Yuvraj looks all set to win the WORLD CUP 2003.....I really feel that if we are gonna win the world cup,which looks most likely this man along with SACHIN is going to be a major contributor.I wish him luck.....for the WORLD CUP and also for his future,which looks very bright to me..
