You've Got Mail is a pleasant and undistinguished romantic comedy movie which missed out the box-office. The movie is one of the cute and cuddly love stories to come in the recent times. The performance from excellent stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan is very appealing. And this will be the movie which will be remembered for ever because of its firt use of Internet on-screen romance. The movie completely depends on the affection and unmemorable performance by both the leading actor and actress.
The movie comes written and directed by a women who has already established her credentials. She seems to stick to stories of human relationships and behaviours binded by the love between two human beings. Nora, the director who gave a quite and simple movie in ''Sleepless in Seattle'' seems to find flavour for the love between couples in ''You've Got Mail'' too!.
Meg Ryan is Kathleen Kelly, owner of her late mother's charming children's bookstore called ''The Shop around the Corner'', while Tom Hanks is Joe Fox is the owner of the Fox Books, a multi-million-dollar chain. Joe Fox opens up a big book shop in front of the Kathleen's small book shop making her go out of business. Kathleen decides to fight back for Small Book shop which is on the verge of closure.
Other than this Kathleen has a crusading journalist boyfriend and Joe too has a live-in girlfriend who is self-centric and ultra-hyper editor who keeps pushing Joe to the limit. Meanwhile, Joe and Kathleen have established an anonymous cyber connecting after meeting in a chat room, where they love each other but are bussiness rivals in real life which they don't know. And finally when they come to know who they are and makes them almost dead rivals which finally leads to the climax of the movie.
To be frank the movie gives the audience something different which has not been fully explored in this modern cinema and email relationships. If it is a known fact that most of the internet surfer are addicted to this type of relationship which has replaced the old face-to-face and then over the phone style of relationship. Though the movie is dialogue heavy much of the movie has a very good impact with the strong feelings in the script.
This is one movie which I would suggest you shouldn't miss if you are a type who love to see quite, cute, cuddly movies without any types of actions, violence, effects which you see most in movies these days.
